An 80 year old woman was injured on Monday as Palestinian terrorists continued to fire rockets into Israel.  Several other Israelis were taken to the hospital after going through shock, following rocket fire from Islamic Jihad and other groups inside Gaza, which reached farther into Israel on Monday than at any other point since the current uptick in violence began late last week.

While Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system has intercepted dozens of the over 200 rockets fired from Gaza since Friday, the Gedera area, which is approximately 11 miles further into Israel than Ashdod – where many of the rockets thus far have hit, including on Monday – was struck today.

“We warn the leaders of the enemy of the consequences of testing our patience. Our patience is limited and shall be turned into fire and destruction upon them,” said a member of Islamic Jihad on Monday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israeli military “is ready to broaden its operations and will continue to act as necessary.”

The IDF acknowledged the deaths of 3 civilians among terrorists that were killed during two operations late Sunday night and on Monday.  Referring to Monday’s airstrike, which targeted Palestinian terrorists firing rockets from inside Gaza, the IDF said “this case demonstrates the terrorist organizations’ use of civilians as human shields, and the fact that they open fire deep inside civilian populations.”

Schools in Southern Israel have been cancelled due to the rocket fire while 500,000 people remain on alert to head towards local bomb shelters at any moment.  To view first hand accounts of residents living in Southern Israel, click below.
