Dutch politician Geert Wilders praised Israel and highlighted the threat from radical Islam during a recent appearance on Sean Hannity’s program on Fox News. He said “the border of jihad, the border between the West and the barbarism of the east, of Islam, and reason of the West is exactly the border between Israel and the Arab countries”. He described Israel as “a brother” which shares common values with the West. He said “parents in Europe and America can sleep easily at night” because Israeli parents lie awake worrying for the security of their sons.

Mr Wilders who recently published a book, Marked for Death: Islam’s War Against the West and Me, described the dangers he and his family had faced in the past 8 years. He has faced death threats due to his comments regarding the Islamic faith, has had to live in an army barrack and claimed that his family had to live in a prison cell for half a year due to security concerns. He also stated that he cannot walk freely without security.

While on Hannity’s program, Wilders, who leads the Party for Freedom in the Netherlands –  the third largest political party in the country  – alleged that “Europe is in the process of Islamization” and is “losing the values based on Christianity and Judaism”. He described “cultural relativism” as “the biggest disease in the Western world today.” He criticized politicians for being afraid to say “our own culture and values are far better than the Islamic culture”.

Mr Wilders, who is under 24-hour police protection, said “people don’t feel at home on their own streets” due an enormous influx of Muslim immigrants and mentioned an example that 65% of Moroccan youth in the Netherlands have been detained by Dutch police at least once.
