A convoy organized by the Viva Palestina organization, which claimed to be carrying humanitarian aid to Palestinians, has failed to reach Gaza. The attempt to reach Gaza had to be cancelled after Egypt refused to allow the group to enter the Sinai peninsula.

The convoy was organized by far-left British MP George Galloway who is infamous for his anti-Israel rhetoric. According to the Israeli Intelligence and Heritage Commemoration Center (IICC), Viva Palestina was denied entry to Egypt because George Galloway and other activists had been involved in a violent confrontation with Egyptian security forces in January 2010, while heading a similar convoy.

The convoy consisting of far-left activists and Islamists was reportedly “robbed in Romania and snubbed in Turkey”. After Galloway decided to travel through Syria, some activists objected and dropped out of the convoy. Despite requests, the convoy did not provide any aid to the Syrian people who have been subjected to a brutal crackdown by the Assad regime, highlighting its hypocrisy.
