Zeev Jabotinsky’s Answer to Hypocrisy

Hypocrites have always driven me crazy, those who put on false appearances of virtue and turn out not to be what they say they are. Israel faces many such hypocritical opponents.
First among them are the gay activists who have recently boycotted the Jewish state, including the sickening Seattle LGBT Commission. Representing gays in the city, the organization cancelled a recent reception at Seattle City Hall for a visiting delegation of Israeli gay leaders, as they were “outraged by Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians.” Amazingly, I have yet to see these people boycott any of Israel’s Arab neighbors for the real human rights abuses which grab media headlines nowadays.
A recent New York Times carried an article by Abdellah Taia, which talks about growing up in the Arab world as an effeminate boy, where “homosexuality did not, of course, exist.”
An excerpt:
I no longer remember the child, the teenager, I was. I know I was effeminate and aware that being so obviously ‘like that’ was wrong. God did not love me. I had strayed from the path. Or so I was made to understand. Not only my family, but also by the entire neighborhood. I learned my lesson perfectly. So deep down, I tell myself they won. This is what happened.
Now, over a year after the Arab Spring began, we must again remember homosexuals. Arabs have finally become aware that they have to invent a new, free Arab individual, without the support of their megalomaniacal leaders. Arab homosexuals are also taking part in this revolution, whether they live in Egypt, Iraq or Morocco. They, too, are part of this desperately needed process of political and individual liberation. And the world must support and protect them.
Astonishingly however these hypocrites ignore these real issues and attack the Jewish state which is of course the friendliest to gay rights in the region – just as liberals are yet to sail a flotilla to Syria where thousands have been slaughtered, yet would attack Israel with a flotilla simply for taking measures to protect her people from terrorists.

Israel lost another Public Relations and media battle as the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) adopted five resolutions condemning Israel recently, including one that establishes a new “fact-finding mission” to investigate alleged Israeli ‘violations’ relating to settlements.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded soundly:
This is a hypocritical council with an automatic majority against Israel. This council ought to be ashamed of itself. Until today, the council has made 91 decisions, 39 of which dealt with Israel, three with Syria and one with Iran. One only had to hear the Syrian representative speak today about human rights in order to understand how detached from reality the council is. Another proof of its detachment from reality came last week when it invited before it a representative of Hamas, an organization whose ideology is based on the murder of innocents.
The UN Human Rights Council ignores continued abuses from nations such as China, Saudi Arabia and Zimbabwe – but the sole democracy in the Middle East – the sole country which continually has its very existence questioned by the world, that’s the country which the UN condemns!
Owning a PR firm, I can say that image isn’t everything – surviving and prospering is more important, and that has to be Israel’s clear message in a sick world where hypocrites condemn Israel and ignore the real offending parties. Only a surviving and thriving Jewish state of Israel can be the response to this hypocrisy.
As the great Zionist leader Ze’ev Jabotinsky said: “It is not the anti-Semitism of men; it is, above all, the anti-Semitism of things, the inherent xenophobia of the body social or the body economic under which we suffer.”
