The New York Times revealed an incredible story behind the man who was hospitalized last weekend after going on an anti-Semitic rant in Central Park, while wearing a giant Elmo suit.

Elmo – whose real name is Adam Sandler – was videotaped by tourists while he screamed at people visiting the park on Sunday.  He was later taken away in an ambulance and given a psychological evaluation.

One of the shocking notes of The Times’ piece includes a revelation that Sandler had been deported from Cambodia after he was found to be running a pornographic website there.

After losing a job with the Girl Scouts of America, Sandler decided he would work for tips in Manhattan’s Central Park.

“I saw how these Elmo guys were working in Times Square,” Sandler told the New York Times in an interview.

Although police asked Sandler to stay away from the park right after Sunday’s incident, he said he was “sort of sneaking back in”.
