Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel is welcoming the support of Louis Farrakhan in the fight to reduce Chicago’s soaring crime rate, ignoring the history of Farrakhan’s anti-Semitic remarks and speeches.

Deborah Silverman, a local Chicago area politician who also happens to be an Orthodox Jew says Farrakhan’s commitment to fighting crime is a positive but “but it doesn’t eradicate the comments that he’s made about the Jewish community,” according to the Chicago Sun Times.

“People of faith have a role to play and community leaders have a role to play in helping to protect our neighborhoods and our citizens,” Emanuel, whose father was born in Jerusalem, said.  “You cannot get there on just one piece of an anti-crime strategy.”

In a recent Sunday sermon, Farrakhan claimed Jews control the American media and banking systems, and thatyou can’t go nowhere in their world without paying obeisance to them”.

According to the Times, Chicago has seen a 40% spike in the city’s homicide rate and this fact cuts into Emanuel’s desire to “market Chicago to international tourists”.

“The police have a role to play. Tearing down abandoned buildings has a role to play. Shutting liquor stores that are a cancer in the community have a role to play. Community leaders have a role to play. Pastors have a role to play. Principals have a role to play. And most importantly, parents have roles to play. They have decided, the Nation of Islam, to help protect the community. And that’s an important ingredient, like all the other aspects of protecting a neighborhood,” he said.

A video of a recent anti-Semitic rant by Farrakhan is posted below.

  • MIn. Farrakhan is NOT RACIST. People need t get a grip and see that this man is trying to save all people …not just Black America. Damn!

Emanuel recently slammed Chick fil a, stating that they do not reflect the values of Chigago. You can infer from the above article that he believes that Farrakhan does reflect the values of Chicago. That is scary.

  • LF said, “Iran will never attack Israel”. Really? Mr. Ahmadinejad would seem to disagree, and one might assume that he has a better knowledge of Iran’s intentions than LF.

LF told us, “Our Islam says, we are never to be the aggressor”. Even if that statement were true, which it is not, since when did any of the so called “statements of Islam” demonstrate any restraint on the rampant Muslim hatred and violence directed toward non-Muslims, especially Jews and Christians?

BTW, LF was alive in 1948, wasn’t he?

What LF describes as Armageddon, sounds more like the bringing in of the 12th Imam to me, but maybe that is because he thinks that he is on the winning side. Guess we will just have to wait and see how it turns out.

LF is old and eaten up with hatred. Like his master, he is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.

  • Volnarable yout will be converted to Islam and radicalized. Welcome to Club!
    Bravo Emanuel!

  • I’m astounded that Eric Holder, head of the Justice Department of the United States not having a problem with Louis Farrakhan having his group performing police functions in black neighborhoods. Not trained or sworn individuals doing police functions.

Would Eric Holder allow the Nazi Party group to patrol violent White neighborhoods?? This is a true reflection on Eric Holder as a police official!

  • We’ll see if including Louis Farrakhan will help stem the gun violence in Chicago.

What was Emanuel thinking? Does he have a strategy? Does he actually believe Farrakhan will dispatch his thugs into the community to stop the violence or will he turn the focus onto Jews as the enemy.

It is usually when their posts carry no weight at all that someone feels the need to repeat their same post over & over & over again. No more needs to be said.

      • Technical difficulties do not minimize the truth of the post. Calypso Louie’s Nation of Islam DNA is inherited from men who supported the murder of 2300 Americans at Pearl Harbor and 6000000 Jews in the Holocaust.

There was nothing anti-Semitic about this speech by Farrakhan. It was not anti-Jew nor even anti-Israeli, but only anti-war.

    • The reverend Farrakhan conveniently omitted discussing the repeated threat of destruction and annihilation thrown out by the Iranian president Ahmadinejad. The Nazi-like threats he has made are only part of the reason the Israelis fear Iran. Add to the overt threats the chronic Muslim hatred towards Jews (and all other non-Islamic faiths)and you have an existential threat to Israel’s existence.
The Iranians with their Hezbollah flunkies have practiced murder around the globe. Mr. Farrakhan conveniently left this out of his remarks.
Nobody asked him to comment on the supremacist posture of Islam vis a vis all other religions. Nobody asked him why he insists on shipping thousands of missiles to both Hezbollah and Hamas in Gaza.
Iran is a threat to all Middle East countries, especially the Sunni ruled ones. But the good Rev. Farrakhan chooses to ignore those realities and just focus his anti-Semitism against Israel.

Jonathan Ames, ‘Herring Wonder’ and HBO Series Creator, Does Israel

Writer Jonathan Ames, creator of the HBO television series “Bored to Death,” is known for his fearless and exhibitionistic persona. One can find YouTube videos of him eating herring and boxing at the same time, having knives thrown at him by a person called “Throwdini,” and ranting drunkenly at an awards ceremony. And when it comes to writing, Ames’s essays tend to cover racy topics. Given these exploits, it’s a bit surprising to learn that Ames’s recent trip to Israel [...]

    Jewish Presence in Contemporary Art

The Jewish presence and identity in the contemporary world of art is one truly worth noting. Black Jazz Musician Encounters Mixed Reactions to Subway Renditions of Hatikvah, Hava Hagila

At first you may be skeptical of Isaiah Richardson Jr. He doesn’t look like somebody who would be playing Hava Nagila for passengers waiting for their train in the subway. Firstly, he seems too young,  and secondly, he’s a black kid from the Bronx, dressed sharply, derby hat and all. But when upon meeting Isaiah, the 32-year-old ticked off “Hevenu Shalom Aleichem,” “Bashana Haba’ah,” and “Zum Gali Gali” as some of his favorite songs to play passing crowds, I knew [...]

Perez, in a Mother’s Day concert May 12 at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, will weave a musical experience that brings together intimations of Israeli independence, Giuseppe Verdi’s use of Jewish melodies, medieval Ladino music, and modern Jewish show music. These musical elements are particularly personal for Perez, whose Juilliard education has [...]
