Fabien Gilot raised his arm on Sunday in London following his team’s gold medal performance in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay, revealing a Hebrew tattoo on his left arm.

I am nothing without them,” the tattoo reads in English.  In Hebrew,  אני ×›×œ×•× ×‘×œ×¢×“×™×”×.

Gilot told reporters the tattoo is a tribute to his late grandmother’s husband, Max Goldschmidt, a Jewish survivor of Auschwitz, who has been a large influence in the swimmer’s life.
