Norway Recommends Replacing Circumcisions With Non-Surgical Ritual

JPost/JTA – Norway’s ombudsman for children’s rights has proposed that Jews and Muslim replace male circumcision with a symbolic, nonsurgical ritual.

Dr. Anne Lindboe told the newspaper Vart Land last month that circumcision in boys was a violation of a person’s right to decide over his own body. “Muslim and Jewish children are entitled to the same protection as all other children,“ she said. She added that the practice caused unnecessary pain and was medically unbeneficial.

    It’s good to know that there’s a doctor in Norway who thinks I’m a physical freak of nature, harmed by his parents during a loving ceremony that sported a nice brunch for the guests to our home.

    “Listen, I just don’t understand why these religions don’t do something that is more appealing to me….”

    My thinking is, the longer European thinkers want to continue beating a dead horse, the quicker we’re all going to figure out that, hey, 3000 years of cultural history is worth tossing out a window.
