Black Leader Al Sharpton…What Exactly Does he Lead?

The "old" Al Sharpton, complete with blue leisure suit and gold medallion

One of the top-ten hits of 70’s folk-rock star, Jim Croce, who went to his tragic death in a small plane crash in 1973, was a catchy little tune called Bad, Bad Leroy Brown. The first line of the song goes as follows: “Well, the south side of Chicago, is the baddest part of town…” These days the south side of Chicago is not only the baddest part of town, it is a free-fire combat zone where the daily body count has become a staple of Chicago news reporting. Since these are almost exclusively black-on-black murders one would expect the current black messiah, the Rev. Al Sharpton, to rise to the occasion and save the day by doing what he does best: calling a press conference. Of course, he is nowhere to be seen and the reason is obvious; there is no percentage in protesting black-on-black crime. No big news coverage, no way to appeal to the neurotic guilt of white liberals, no chance to march through the streets chanting, “No justice, no peace.” The only reason to get involved would be a genuine concern to help his own people.

Sharpton with Tawana Brawley. Sharpton supported her phony rape allegations in order to garner publicity.

In August of 1991, Sharpton was a principal player in the Crown Heights riots that resulted in the murder of Yankel Rosenbaum, the murder of a black man mistaken by the mob as a Jew, several days of blacks rioting and threatening the Hassidic Jewish community of Crown Heights, and the incitement of a black mob to “go in and get” Yosef Lifsh, a 22 year-old Hassid, who was the driver in a tragic car accident that killed a seven year old black child, Gavin Cato. It was this crash that sparked the riots in the first place. As to the question of why an accidental traffic fatality involving a car driven by a law-abiding member of the  community (violent crime is virtually non-existent among Lubavitch Hassidim) should spark black mobs to riot and motivate Al Sharpton and his cohorts to lead marches and protests, is a question that only the noble and wise Sharpton himself (and possibly his alter-ego, Jesse Jackson) could possibly answer…but it would be a good idea not to hold your breath while waiting.

The "new" Al Sharpton

Despite the fact that over the years Al Sharpton has slimmed down, traded in the garish leisure suits and medallions for a GQ-style Brooks Brothers look, and is a news commentator on  MSNBC, in the final  analysis, “say hello to the new boss, same as the old boss.” In February and March of 2012, Sharpton was again the principal player in the incitement of black mobs to direct their righteous anger against George Zimmerman in the Trayvon  Martin shooting. “No justice, no peace!” “We are all Trayvon Martin!” “Hoodies for sale!” “Remember Tawana Brawley!” (Oops!) Has anyone noticed that we don’t hear much from Sharpton these days about the Zimmerman case? Again, the reason is obvious: as the evidence emerges it becomes increasingly clear that Zimmerman is innocent and the tragic drama that resulted in Trayvon Martin’s death played out exactly as Zimmerman claimed. It was a simple case of lethal force used in self-defense.

Trayvon Martin may have been smoking marijuana that night, was a very troubled teenager that belonged to some kind of underground  fight-club, and according to the one eye-witness in the case, “[was] a black male, wearing a dark colored ‘hoodie’ on top of a white or Hispanic male who was yelling for help…[and] was mounted on the white or Hispanic male and throwing punches ‘MMA (mixed martial arts) style.” One thing is absolutely certain: There is zero evidence that the color of Trayvon Martin’s skin had anything at all to do with the events of that night.

The "real" Al Sharpton

Al Sharpton really cut his teeth on the Tawana Brawley case in 1987 (see link above). He again incited black mobs and exacerbated racial tensions by supporting the obviously phony and contrived accusations of a black teenager, Tawana Brawley, that she was raped and abused by a group of white men. It becomes clear then what exactly Sharpton is a leader of. He is a leader of black lynch mobs against white people. He is a race-baiter. He is an opportunist of the lowest order. There are many serious problems facing certain segments of the black community in our country. The violence on the south side of Chicago is only one example. I have a helpful suggestion: How about a swift kick in the butt to Al Sharpton that sends him tumbling back into oblivion where he belongs? That would not only be a great leap forward for the black community, but for decent human beings everywhere.
