NY Post – The Obama campaign wants you to know that some of the president’s best friends are rabbis.

The Boston Globe reports that Barack Obama is losing support among Jews in Florida, a block he needs and needs badly to win a state he needs and needs badly. And the situation could be very bad for Obama’s reelection efforts since Jewish support for Obama would only have to drop by a few points to make the difference between his winning or losing the state.

What I do not understand is why parents did not beat up these rabbis if they had the proof and their child suffered. . If it was my child I WOULD HAVE GONE INTO HIS OFFICE AND BEATEN THEM UP. I would go to Israel now and punch them out. RABBI DR. BERNHARD ROSENBERG

  • Pirkei Avos 2:3: “Be careful in your relations with the government, for they draw no man close to themselves except for their own interests. They appear as friends when it is to their advantage, but they do not stand by a man in his time of stress.”

I often receive comments that I must be obsessed by the HOLOCAUST, OR I SHOULD STOP PREACHING SO MUCH ABOUT THE Holocaust. After ALL many of my colleagues have deep feelings about the Holocaust and have lost family members. To them I SAY you are correct about both. I am obsessed because at Simchas I HAVE NO ONE FROM PAST GENERATIONS EXCEPT A FEW COUSINS. I am blessed that G-d fulfilled my promise to my parents , of blessed memory, that I WOULD have a station wagon full of kids. My wife, kids, and grandchildren are my treasure in life as I am positive the same holds true for you. With the death of my first cousin, the Holocaust has changed for me. I do not talk about the horrors but only ask that the memory of those lost be preserved and that we remember what our parents accomplished who came out of the Holocaust. Now I PUT MY EFFORTS into helping to support Eretz Yisroel. Without the State of Israel, we Jews are are in great trouble. Another Holocaust will occur if ISRAEL IS Nuked. Never forget ISRAEL ONLY HAS TO LOOSE ONE WAR AND Israel will be only a memory. I do not trust politicians on either side. They will say and do anything to get your vote and then renege. I DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT PRESIDENTIAL ADVISORS OR Generals HAVE TO SAY. I believe the men and women in Israel who will fight for their survival. Most of the world cares little for the Jews. Have we not leaned from history. IT is time to get out of Europe. This is my message before the High Holidays. RABBI DR. BERNHARD ROSENBERG FAIRHILL RD. EDISON NJ 08817

  • IT IS TIME TO WAKE UP AND REALIZE WHAT THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND ITS PLATFORM ATTEMPTED TO DO. I hope the 600 rabbis plus are e mailing and on the telephones to their democratic representatives. The so called hidden rabbis for Romney have been asked by me to send e mails and mass phone calls today. This is what Rabbis for Romney can accomplish without currently publishing a list . Yishar KOACH TO THE DEMOCRATIC Jewish LEADERSHIP IN CONGRESS AND ELSEWHERE FOR SPEAKING UP AND FIGHTING. Rabbi dr. bernhard ROSENBERG

  • “Rabbis for Romney”

With the announcement that there is now a “Rabbis for Obama” list and organization, it is safe to assume there will soon be as making it seem as though all Jews support this President who has refused to visit Israel while in office, blatantly insulted the Israel and her elected leaders, and publicly demanded that the Jewish state retreat to the 1948 “Auschwitz” borders. He even made a tremendous fuss when Israel dared to announce a building plan in her own capital. The announcement came just as Vice-President Biden was visiting, and Obama reacted as if Israel had announced that Arabs would no longer be allowed at their holy sites. Indeed, it is the Arabs, presumably with Obama’s approval (because he has never said a word against it), who do not allow Jews or Christians to so much as think a prayer on the Temple Mount. Closing one’s eyes and standing still (never mind carrying a prayer book) is an offense that can lead to arrest.

I appeal to all rabbis, of all denominations, whether working in the pulpit, as I do, or not, to band with me to form “Rabbis for Romney.” It is imperative that all Americans understand that there are passionate Jewish spiritual leaders who care very much about the wrongs done to the Jewish state under this administration.

Every time Obama sounded as if he finally understood the problems, he almost immediately issued a retraction. I refer specifically to his address at AIPAC when he said Jerusalem was the undivided capital of Israel. The next day, he said he meant only that there shouldn’t be “barbed wire” running through the city.

When he said Israel did not need to worry because “America has your back,” everyone at AIPAC thought he was ready to defend Israel against Iran in every way, not just diplomatically. The next day, he corrected himself, explaining he had not meant there was “a military doctrine we were laying out for any particular action.”

Some of the rabbis who signed onto “Rabbis for Obama” have told me they do not object to Israel’s existence per se, but rather to Israel’s “occupation of Palestinian land.” “Rabbis for Romney” could show our misguided colleagues that every time Israel has ceded territory to the Arabs, they have turned that land into a base from which to launch terror attacks: Gaza, Judea and Samaria, South Lebanon, and now Sinai. Forcing Israel to surrender will never bring about peace. It will only facilitate her enemies’ destructive promises.

But Israel would not be our only issue. Americans must see that “Rabbis for Romney” understand why the principles of ObamaCare are in opposition to Jewish traditions. Who better than rabbis to explain what this economy is doing to so many of our people, and why it is being made worse by this administration’s policies, not better.

Many of us also know that vouchers and school-choice programs are the only way to make sure all children—including our own—receive a proper, appropriate education. We will never get anywhere with this idea as long as Obama is in office.

Please do not misunderstand. I do not think Romney is, le havdil, Moshiach ben Dovid. I know, as President, he will, as he should, do what he believes is in America’s best national interest. But his and his running mate’s backgrounds and statements make it clear that their response to Israel, especially when the chips are down, will be far more favorable than anything we can expect from Obama.

Rabbi Meir Soloveichik to offer opening invocation at Republican convention

    August 27, 2012

(JTA) — Rabbi Meir Soloveichik is scheduled to deliver the opening invocation at the Republican National Convention.

“It is an extraordinary privilege to deliver an invocation at a cherished ritual of American democracy,” said Soloveichik of the invocation, which he is scheduled to deliver on Tuesday in Tampa, Fla.

Soloveichik is the director of the Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought at Yeshiva University and associate rabbi at the Kehilath Jeshurun synagogue, both in New York City.

A frequent contributor to several publications, including the politically conservative Commentary magazine, Soloveichik also is a member of a prominent family of American Orthodox rabbis that includes his late uncle, Rabbi Joseph Ber Soloveitchik, the former head of Yeshiva University.

In July, the Times of Israel reported that Soloveichik was being courted to replace British Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks at the conclusion of the latter’s tenure in September 2013.

I have been working to try to get the Republican Jewish Coalition to create rabbis for Romney. I think we give the wrong impression to the public when there are rabbis for Obama and none for Romney. I don’t represent an organization and my views are personal. Having been involved in political elections and worked with many candidates as a media coach I can assure you that the media is interested in hearing if there are rabbis willing to put their names on list for Romney. If you are interested join me in speaking out. Please connect with other rabbis from other movements and have them contact me.’The “Rabbis for Obama” announcement came out of the Obama campaign. SOME want to support Romney, but won’t sign unless we get some cooperation from the Romney people, not the RJC. The Romney people have to match the Obama people to some extent. Those of you who feels this way are asked to speak out to the Republicsan Party. I am one lonely individual who will get no where without your help. we need money for ads.Maybe Mr. Adelson can help.

AT least OBAMA has a list of Rabbis. What do the Republicans have? Starting to believe both presidential candidates only care for themselves and their election and will do anything which is needed to win. LYING, CHEATING, DESTOYING EACH OTHER, AND DISTORTING THE TRUTH are part of the game and we are the victims. By the way most running for office are multi-millionaires with great C.P.A.’s. RABBI DR. Jewish Presence in Contemporary Art

The Jewish presence and identity in the contemporary world of art is one truly worth noting. At the 3rd annual conference of “Jewish Arts & Identity in the contemporary world” in Baruch College’s Jewish Studies Center, at a panel entitled “Jewish Ways of Seeing: The Visual Arts and the Jewish Tradition”, the Jewish impact on the creative world is exemplified through the discussion of artist Audrey Flack and her various works. Flack was born in 1931 to a fairly Orthodox [...]

Black Jazz Musician Encounters Mixed Reactions to Subway Renditions of Hatikvah, Hava Hagila

At first you may be skeptical of Isaiah Richardson Jr. He doesn’t look like somebody who would be playing Hava Nagila for passengers waiting for their train in the subway. Firstly, he seems too young,  and secondly, he’s a black kid from the Bronx, dressed sharply, derby hat and all. But when upon meeting Isaiah, the 32-year-old ticked off “Hevenu Shalom Aleichem,” “Bashana Haba’ah,” and “Zum Gali Gali” as some of his favorite songs to play passing crowds, I knew [...]

Mother’s Day Performer Blends Israeli Independence and the Jewish Side of Verdi

This Mother’s Day, the music of opera singer Sharon Azrieli Perez will integrate the varied threads that have made up the fabric of her life. Perez, in a Mother’s Day concert May 12 at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, will weave a musical experience that brings together intimations of Israeli independence, Giuseppe Verdi’s use of Jewish melodies, medieval Ladino music, and modern Jewish show music. These musical elements are particularly personal for Perez, whose Juilliard education has [...]

Israeli soccer star Yossi Benayoun, who currently plays for FC Chelsea in the English Premier League, was recently the victim of anti-Semitic abuse on Twitter. After thanking his Twitter followers for sending him birthday wishes, Benayoun, who many consider to be the greatest Israeli soccer player ever, was sent the following message: “f***in Jew a**hole.” Benayoun posted a response, saying, “Some nice people in the world.” His team has called on the police to investigate the matter, according to the Britain’s [...]
