Is Samuel L. Jackson More Important to Jews Than Iran?

Why would any so-called Jewish organization issue an advertisement featuring Samuel L. Jackson, an African-American actor cursing in an advertisement supporting President Obama’s re-election and urging a little girl, a family and others to “Wake the F— Up!”? Is there “Jewish” content that I missed somewhere there?

Earlier this year, the same organization, the so-called “Jewish Council for Education and Research” released a video which featured actress Sarah Silverman simulating sex with a dog, in mocking  the number one supporter of Jewish causes, – including Birthright and Yad Vashem – billionaire Jewish philanthropist Sheldon Adelson.

With issues like assimilation, intermarriage, and the Iranian threat facing world Jewry and Israel, releasing this advertisement during the Jewish high holidays is simply offensive to the Jewish community.  Regardless of how one feels politically, it seems the producers of this video are simply exploiting Judaism.

A few months ago, similarly, The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) libeled Adelson – prompting Alan Dershowitz, a proud Jew, (albeit a Democrat) to say: “it’s outrageous for the National Jewish Democratic Council to level unfounded allegations against Adelson. They do not speak for me, and for the many other Jews who admire Adelson’s contributions to the world, to America, to Israel and to the Jewish community. The attack comes with particular ill grace from a Jewish organization, considering all that Adelson has done for Jewish causes, and considering the fact that there is nothing uniquely “Jewish” about the questionable allegations against him.”

There’s surely nothing “Jewish” about the “Wake the F— Up!” ad, and if Jews need to “Wake the F— Up!”, I am certain that many would agree that our most important concerns center around matters like assimilation, intermarriage or antisemitism in Europe for example.

We don’t need profanity from Samuel L. Jackson to wake up the Jewish community on Jewish issues.

Shame.
