Major Media Outlets Report False Numbers on People who Think Obama is Jewish

All sorts of claims have been made about U.S. President Barack Obama, but the most recent one might have been the most surprising. In a survey done by the Associated Press, it was reported that a significant number of Americans think that the President is…Jewish. 18% in fact. Except the only problem with the poll was that there was a typo. The actual number of people who think he is Jewish is 0%.

The poll, which surveyed racial attitudes towards the U.S. presidential and vice presidential candidates was picked up by several major news media outlets including Haaretz, The Jewish Chronicle, The Forward, Mediaite, Russia Today and The Nation. The news caused a minor uproar on twitter. One person wrote, “18% of Americans think Obama is Jewish! Really!!!!” His shock was well founded.

When The Algemeiner scanned the survey we realized that the numbers didn’t reflect the reports. A note atop the question that read “**2012 numbers have been updated to correct a typo,” led us to further believe something was amiss. GJK, the Germany-based research firm that conducted the survey on behalf of the AP, confirmed to The Algemeiner that a misalignment caused the error, that it had been corrected, and that 18% of Americans think Obama is Muslim, not Jewish. All of the aforementioned media outlets have failed to make the same correction at the time of publication.

A screenshot showing the correct poll numbers is posted below.

  • Anyone who thinks Hussein Obama is Jewish probably forgot to take their medication before they answered the “survey”

  • Shallow, new-age reporters believing Obama is Jewish is really so far-fetched? Isn’t he a smooth little prick?

  • stunned observer

I am stunned that a single Jewish person is voting for Obama-its obvious to me that he has done a little pandering(not much) and has no interest in helping Jews or Israel. He is interested in being re-elected THATS ALL. He hates America and he hates Israel and has proved that by proping up every radical muslim uprising in the middle east. He means to destroy both our countries and if you can’t see that then you are blind.

  • Ilbert Phillips

We live in a strange world. How could any news person worth his or her salt believe such a result in a poll (18% of Americans believe Barack Hussein Obama is a Jew).

  • HOW STUPID! WHAT JEW HAS A MIDDLE NAME OF HUSSEIN?

  • Personal religious affiliation is a sensitive matter. However, I can comment because President Obama himself has chosen to address his religion and religious roots on a number of public occasions. For example, he publicly affirmed his Muslim family roots in 2009 in speeches delivered first in Ankara and then in Cairo. In his June 4, 2009 Cairo speech, President Obama specifically said that he is now a Christian. And indeed, It does seem to be the case that Barack Obama converted to Christianity at some point before his October 1992 marriage to Michelle Robinson. But, this leaves completely open the important question of his religious evolution from birth to manhood. Specifically, we ask if President Obama had ever been Muslim, despite some specific denials that he made during the 2008 electoral campaigns. Make no mistake! Theologically, Islam regards all children to be born Muslim and to remain such until adults teach them otherwise. President Obama was probably Muslim during childhood also because: (1) his paternal grandfather in Kenya was Muslim; (2) his Kenyan father (though Marxist and atheist) was born Muslim, always kept his two Muslim names “Barack” and “Hussein,” and when he died, his family wanted him buried with Muslim rites; (3) infant Obama was also given the Muslim names, “Barack” and “Hussein”; (4) his Indonesian stepfather was also Muslim; (5) former Indonesian playmates recall that child Obama attended religious services both at school and in mosques, when they believed him to be Muslim; (6) child Obama was definitely registered as “Muslim” at two elementary schools in Indonesia; (7) he then studied the Koran in Indonesia; (8) an Indonesian teacher recalls that child Obama was then also learning Arabic recitation of the Koran, which adult Obama has shown that he can still remember; and (9) reflecting on her childhood with young Obama, his half-sister Maya Soetoro in 2007 told The New York Times: “My whole family was Muslim.” On the balance of probabilities, the conclusion is that President Obama practiced Islam for the first ten years of his life. Nor should this create a presumption that his ties to Muslims and Islam suddenly came to an abrupt end when he moved to Hawaii in 1971. To this day, President Obama has always kept many close ties to Muslims, including family, friends and colleagues. When in the mid-1980′s, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright first met young Barack Obama, Wright was struck by the extent to which Obama was then so knowledgeable about Islam, but knew relatively little about Christianity. As a new law student at Harvard University, Barack Obama was told by the Rev. Jesse Jackson: “If you want to succeed in politics in this country, you had better get yourself a Christian religion.” There is certainly nothing wrong in being Muslim, having been Muslim, or in converting from Islam to another faith. However, lying to the American people is patently wrong. In this regard, the evidence suggests that Barack Obama intentionally spun his own account of his childhood to create a false impression that his childhood was secular. But, the simple truth is that child Obama practiced Islam in the same way that Jewish boys prepare for Bar Mitzvah.

  • Well he was wearing a skull cap at the Wall!
    Isn’t that proof enough??????????

    • SO DID THE POPE!

    • Dr. S A Visotsky

Anyone who goes near that wall is required to have their head covered appropriately. Please refrain from comment about things which you have no knowledge of, that’s exactly how social stigma is perpetuated.

Now go look up the words I’ve just used which you have never heard.

  • that’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard! Barack Hussein Obama Jewish!!! hahahaha Yeah he showed it by 0 visits to the Land of Israel in the 4 years of his presidency. what a joke!

  • The Forward, Haaretz, and other sites have removed this story. Perhaps we should thank the algemeiner for bringing this to their attention.

  • Lori Lowenthal Marcus

Good work! How scary that none of those other outlets did the checking that you did. Score!

  • E Pluribus Beagle

I somehow thing AP did this intentionally

  • Lawrence Kulak

Obama is about as Jewish as a corned beef sandwich on white bread with Mayo.

    • Which other president has held a Passover seder in the White House?

      • Dr. S A Visotsky

Several past US Presidents have had Passover Seder held in the White House, read your history.

The only reason Obama has followed suit, is to detract from the fact that he is Muslim, and to trying and gain support from Jewish voters.

People were hired / appointed to organize the Seder to keep him from looking like so goyish.

        • You can take your vote away. how many jews are in america.are you thw only humans in this world? what is wrong in being a muslim? does the american constitution bar muslims from the presidency? hypocrites!

Writer Jonathan Ames, creator of the HBO television series “Bored to Death,” is known for his fearless and exhibitionistic persona. One can find YouTube videos of him eating herring and boxing at the same time, having knives thrown at him by a person called “Throwdini,” and ranting drunkenly at an awards ceremony. And when it comes to writing, Ames’s essays tend to cover racy topics. Given these exploits, it’s a bit surprising to learn that Ames’s recent trip to Israel [...]

The Jewish presence and identity in the contemporary world of art is one truly worth noting. At the 3rd annual conference of “Jewish Arts & Identity in the contemporary world” in Baruch College’s Jewish Studies Center, at a panel entitled “Jewish Ways of Seeing: The Visual Arts and the Jewish Tradition”, the Jewish impact on the creative world is exemplified through the discussion of artist Audrey Flack and her various works. Black Jazz Musician Encounters Mixed Reactions to Subway Renditions of Hatikvah, Hava Hagila

At first you may be skeptical of Isaiah Richardson Jr. He doesn’t look like somebody who would be playing Hava Nagila for passengers waiting for their train in the subway. Firstly, he seems too young,  and secondly, he’s a black kid from the Bronx, dressed sharply, derby hat and all. But when upon meeting Isaiah, the 32-year-old ticked off “Hevenu Shalom Aleichem,” “Bashana Haba’ah,” and “Zum Gali Gali” as some of his favorite songs to play passing crowds, I knew [...]

Perez, in a Mother’s Day concert May 12 at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, will weave a musical experience that brings together intimations of Israeli independence, Giuseppe Verdi’s use of Jewish melodies, medieval Ladino music, and modern Jewish show music. These musical elements are particularly personal for Perez, whose Juilliard education has [...]
