The 2012 presidential election was the most expensive in history and a lot of the money injected into the campaign came from the pockets of Sheldon Adelson, the casino magnate and staunch Republican. Considering laws that shield contributions from the public, not all of his donations were reported but it’s safe to say he gave tens of millions of dollars to super pacs backing Romney. Yet Adelson didn’t seem too upset at the lack of return on his investment, as The New York Times reported, he told a Norwegian reporter on Tuesday night that he thought his money was going towards “Paying bills.” He continued, “That’s how you spend money. Either that or become a Jewish husband — you spend a lot of money.” Must be nice to have such a leisurely attitude after spending that much money!
