A Tel Aviv bus was blown up this morning in a terror attack that injured 27, 3 of them seriously. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack. The attack took place at around noon Israel time, near the Kirya base. According to Israeli paper Ynet, “It is suspected there may be a second device.”

The blast, which was the first of its kind in about six years, comes as Israel continues its efforts to cripple Gaza’s terror infrastructure and capacity to fire rockets, in operation “Pillar of Defense.”

“The wounded were evacuated to the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. Doctors said that the condition of person who was seriously injured is not life threatening,” reported Ynet.

Police commander Yohanan Danino told the Times of Israel that they were bracing “for an attack of this kind,” as threats had been made by Hamas to carry out bombing attacks from inside Israel. “We’re not only facing rocket attacks, that’s clear,” he told the Israeli newspaper. “People need to be alert, to report anything suspicious.”

Cries of joy and scenes of celebration were seen throughout Gaza as Israeli politicians from across the political spectrum called on Prime Minister Netanyahu to take further steps against Arab terror.

The Tel Aviv municipality said they “immediately dispatched an emergency crew – composed of representatives from the social welfare and education departments, the psychological counseling service and others – to the scene in order to assist rescue service and medical personnel who were already on site.”

“Education department personnel have gone to schools and kindergartens in the vicinity of the attack site,” they said.

Knesset Member Miri Regev told Israel’s Channel 2  that “The Criminal attack in Tel Aviv teach us that Hamas and Islamic Jihad do not understand correctly the determination of the IDF.”

“I appeal to the Prime Minister to stop the talk about a cease-fire and to empower IDF actions right now,” she concluded.

Footage from the scene of the attack can be viewed below.
