Times of Israel – Arab League chief Nabil Elaraby said two decades of talks with Israel have been “a waste of time” and that Palestinians will soon take a new statehood bid to the UN.

“We will return to the UN Security Council,” he said in Ramallah Saturday after meeting Palestinian officials. “Palestine will be cooperating with Arab and EU countries to change the equation (in the peace process) that prevailed over the past 20 years, which was a waste of time.”

    He happens to be right. tragically. Talks with the Palestinians have, whenever they have occured, led nowhere and there is no realistic reason to think that they will at any time in the forseeable future. I am not opposed to talking to them but the many stories in this very edition of ALGEMEINER show the futility of thinking that the Palestinians are anything other than the mortal enemies of Israel and the entire Jewish people. Rajoub’s comment qlong the recent statements of Mashal and his bunch when they met with Abbas show that peace with these enemies is not possible. I don’t consider myself a right-winger necessarily but I think Bibi and his allies have it right and the left in Israel is as wrong as the left is about most things here at home.
