Chuck Hagel, who is expected to be nominated for Defense Secretary by U.S. President Barack Obama Monday, has drawn criticism from many supporters of Israel mainly because of questionable positions he has taken in the past concerning the Jewish state. And here’s another one that The Algemeiner has identified: Speaking in the senate about Iraq in 2007, Hagel turned to a discussion on terrorism and evoked Palestinians, implying that they are included among those who commit acts of terrorism as a result of despair.
“When there’s despair, nothing else matters. This is not about terrorists who don’t like freedom. Tell that to the Palestinian people, who have been chained down for many many years,” he said.
