Howie Mandell is getting in on the controversy surrounding film director Quentin Tarantino’s new film, “Django Unchained,” which prompted a small firestorm over its liberal use of racial slurs and depiction of the slave trade. On Sunday, the comic tweeted out his own Semitic take on the film, pictured left.
Such public figures as Spike Lee have come out against Tarantino’s film. In December Lee wrote on Twitter, “American Slavery Was Not A Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western. It Was A Holocaust. My Ancestors Are Slaves. Stolen From Africa. I Will Honor Them.” Some groups are even planning to boycott action figures being released in conjunction with the film.
No word yet on who would be starring in the Mandell film were it to get beyond the Twitter-stage of the development process.
