CTV News – TEHRAN — Iran’s Supreme Leader said Saturday that his country was not seeking nuclear weapons, but that if Tehran intended to build them, the U.S. couldn’t stop it.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has the final say on all state matters in Iran, also rejected direct talks with the U.S. over its nuclear program despite the pressure of sanctions.

This is more than enough reason why Iran has to be monitored closely and prevented from getting a bomb. If a partly deranged Muslim cleric such as this has his finger on the button, there is no telling what could possibly happen. No theocracy in the world should be allowed to posess nuclear weapons let alone a maniacal one.
