New York Rabbi Uses Nail Art to Inspire Students

According to The New York Daily News, one Rabbi in Westchester, New York, has developed a novel way to excite her students about the scriptures: nail decals.
It’s all part of the weekly “Midrash Manicures” club at the Solomon Schechter School, run by 27-year-old Rabbi Yael Buechler, who launched the club in 2011.
Buechler has been painting Torah themes on her nails since she was a teenager — years before nail art became a widespread craze.
“Painting my nails according to biblical themes has deepened my own connection to Judaism,” she said. “I cherish the time that I set aside each week to study the Torah portion and choose a theme that speaks to me to depict on my fingernails.”
For Passover Buechler has created nail decals of the Ten Plagues.
“(It) enables students to take ownership of their own learning, and they’re eager to share their learning with friends and family,” she said.
