Khaled Abu Toameh
Journalist
An Arab-Israeli, Abu Toameh is that rare breed of journalist willing to question the status quo in the Middle East. He has defended Israel against accusations of apartheid and defended the country’s treatment of its Arab citizens, which he says, while not perfect, is more hospitable than any other country in the region. An article penned by Abu Toameh, calling on Palestinian Arabs and the world to hold the Palestinian Authority accountable for its malaise, led to the suspension of his Facebook account. As the Arab world and the West celebrated the Arab Spring, he publicly warned of the coming Arab Winter.
