Richard Prasquier
French Jewish leader, CRIF President
Prasquier’s umbrella organization is charged with defending France’s Jews against anti-Semitism and intolerance, while also acting as their main representative on the domestic and international stage. With rising anti-Semitism in the country that’s no easy task, but he’s been up to the challenge. When Fascist politician Marine Le Pen called for a ban of all religious headwear, including kippot, in 2012, Prasquier spoke out, saying that her proposal shows that there are “secular fanatics just as there are religious fanatics.”
