Ronald Lauder
Philanthropist
One of the richest men in the world, Lauder has actively involved himself in Jewish affairs and Israeli politics for decades. As president of the World Jewish Congress, he has spoken out against anti-Semitism across the globe and defended Israel against calls for boycotts. He has also been instrumental in recovering works of art stolen by the Nazis during World War II. He serves on the board of several Jewish organizations and has made inroads in the media. He owns part of Israel’s Channel 10 and, in 2012, bought the Hebrew news website Nana 10 and intends to transform it into an English-language site that will appeal to readers outside of Israel.
