Times of Israel – Russia’s foreign minister has defended his country’s sales of antiaircraft systems to Syria, insisting they are not banned by international law.

Speaking in Warsaw on Friday, Sergey Lavrov appeared to avoid saying clearly whether Moscow would sell Syria advanced S-300 batteries.

    Antiaircraft can only mean antiIsrael

    The Russians have a dilemma. If they do supply Assad with the antiaircraft system they risk seeing it fall into the hands of radical Islamists who put Russian into the same ‘apostate’ club with the West.
    Then the anti-aircraft system might be used against them in some future imbroglio. In such a murky atmosphere that prevails in Syria now, no one can be sure who the ultimate victor will be.
    Russia would provide more ‘targets’ for Israeli or other Western powers depending on what happens in the next few months. The irony is, that Russia already enjoys a favored status in Syria so it cannot gain very much politically by more armaments into Syria.
