The Israeli government is set to release a commissioned report on the al Dura affair that will clearly assert that the “death” of the Palestinian Arab youth, Mohamed al Dura, was staged, the Israeli weekly Sof Shavoua reported Friday.

This falls in line with the conclusions reached years ago by the scientist Nahum Shahaf, followed by the late Gérard Huber and media watchdog Philippe Karsenty, who has led the battle to bring out the truth in French courts for more than a decade.

The Algemeiner has also learned that the report advises that international media outlets be held to a more rigorous standard of reporting so as to prevent the dissemination of false information and the construction of false narratives around the Israeli-Arab conflict.

Karsenty welcomed news of the report. “Now that this scientific report will be released it is very good news. The next step will be for the French public TV, owned and financed by the French state, to admit responsibility for their role in producing the worst blood libel of our times,” he told The Algemeiner.

In 2000, the Israeli army accepted accusations that its forces had shot Dura, who it was claimed had been caught in the line of IDF fire at the Netzarim junction in the Gaza Strip on September 30, 2000. Then, after a lengthy investigation, the army concluded that it had not shot the boy, but the damage was done and Israeli officials hoped that the case would  fade away.

At the same time foreign activists including Karsenty, continued to press the State of Israel to review its official position in view of the massive exploitation of the image of Mohamed al Dura in Arab-Muslim and Western media outlets.

The al Dura case continues to reverberate in Islamist circles. For instance, before he was killed by French police in 2012 in Toulouse, Mohamed Merah declared that he had killed Jewish children in revenge for the death of Palestinian children in Gaza; others have referred specifically to the “death” of Mohamed al Dura.

News of the publication of the report is attributed by Sof Shavoua to Knesset Member Nachman Shaï. Defense Minister, Moshe Yaalon revealed that the investigating commission had worked discreetly and scrupulously under the direction of General Yossi Kuperwasser. The commission was composed of a large number of specialists and scientific experts.

  • The French Jews are correct. The French government owes them a sincere adieu as they leave for Israel, their “promised” land, for good, and be rid of this awful anti-semitism.

  • Conclusion: A blood libel, which was initiated by French state television, caused suffering to Jews in many places throughout the world. The suffering spread also to the French city of Toulouse, and was the cause of increased antisemitism among (gentile) French citizens of North African origin. Many Jews felt forced to emigrate as a result of increased antisemitism. I believe that the French government should pay reparations to the the Jewish community of Toulouse, the post 2000 French immigrant community and others who suffered as a result of the French Public TV blood Libel.

  • The world does not want to learn this information. Pro-Israel sources should do everything possible to publicize it. The charge that Israel killed al-Dura is a blood libel.

  • There’s a considerable body of background material at aldurah.com

  • Dear Sir,

The headline is misleading, regardless of who killed this young boy, was he killed? The notion that the death was ‘staged’ suggests that he did not die.
The report also does not reveal if and how the boy die.

  • Too late. The Israeli government should have commissioned the investigation 13 years ago. The damage has already been done.

Re: Al-Dura. As with any home-grown investigating commission, whitewash is possible and we need to remain skeptical. The larger issue: whatever the truth in the Al-Dura matter, right-wing Jewish fanatics have exploited al-Dura in order to smear:

    1) Charles Enderlin, the Jewish reporter & Israeli citizen who broke the story on French TV;

    2)Enderlin’s supporters;

    3)Enderlin’s nonconformist book “Shattered Dreams” (an examination of the Oslo peace process);

4)all of French media, and France itself.

Yet two studies — by a French-Jewish lawyer (Guillaume Weill-Raynal)and a French-Jewish journalist (Sylvain Attal)– have cleared French media of anti-Semitism. All of the other research on France –by French-Jewish sociologists (Michel Wieviorka, Nonna Mayer),and by the Pew Institute of Washington — also exonerate France of major anti-Semitism: the Pew report of 2006 shows,in fact, that France is LESS anti-Semitic than America!

G.Weill-Raynal’s book “Les Nouveaux Désinformateurs” (The New Disinformants) roundly refutes Philippe Karsenty and his “news agency”. Open-minded staff members at the Allgemeiner who read French would do well to study the Weill-Raynal book. Sincerely, Daniel Birnbaum, Paris.

  • I have a good idea for the Arabs: stop your hating and shooting at us Jews.
Sip a coffee at an outdoor cafe; enjoy a meal at a restaurant or a snack from a street vendor! (Lots of them are Arabs!! ) Get a job!- (Become a doctor!!) Life is short. Besides, you should know: THE JEWS AIN’T GOING AWAY!!! Get used to it!! We learned our lessons: six million of them. Adolf Hitler taught us. Now we have our own army, navy, and air force. We ain’t scared of you. ..or anyone else!!

I find it amazing that the press was at the scene before anything happened.

Tgis seems to be happening too often.
How did they know that “something”is going to happen, before it happens?

This was certainly a “put up job” by the press and the PA.

News like this, sells newspapers, and the reporters obvioulsy get a bonus.

  • At the time of the Al Dura “death” the Israelis had range and direction radar detectors which showed conclusively that it could not have been Israeli fire that caused the death. Instead of publicizing this information immediately a local commander in the IDF publicly took responsibility for the IDF and apologized. The Israelis demolished the wall which is seen in the picture. It was obvious from the beginning that this death was staged. Yet the failure of Israeli PR helped make this incident, a rallying cry around the world. Had there not been a lawsuit in France the truth may have never been detected.

In Lebanon to it was the same Israeli pr failure concerning the collapse of the towers that killed innocent civilians. The Israelis had wing camera information showing that the area and been a launching area for missiles against Israel. Further the collapse occurred hours after the raid .

the accusations that the IDF used phosphorus in Gaza against civilians is also bogus. Here, breaking the silence, bt’selem and other liberal Jewish organizations lied and their lies were given credence and spread around the world. since they came from Jewish sources.

  • This case is an example of Goebbels’s claim. If you tell a lie three times it becomes the truth. And if the is biggest lie, thus it becomes more credible. This way behave the Arabs who stole an identity that do not belongs to them and now called themselves Palestinians.
Do you know that the largest mosque in Gaza was a synagogue less than a hundred years ago? Did you know that a hundred and fifty years ago, most of Gaza’s population were Jews and Christians? The Jewish population in Gaza ended with the pogrom of 1928. The last Christian murdered three years ago after Hamas came to power.
This information is for people who think and are not afraid to ask hard questions.
To understand the present we need to learn about the past.
I made a short presentation on two UN organizations dealing with refugees. UNHCR organization caring for refugees from around the world.
And UNRWA organization who is caring for Arab refugees who fought against the Jewish state – Israel.

If so, what are the real causes of the Arab war against Israel?
Here’s a real explanation from the mouths of imams in mosques.

It is very important to know that Branding the Jews and their state Israel as “occupiers”, gives Arab the legitimacy to remove the occupier in any way they choose, including terrorism against civilians. Therefore they insist to preserve and to leverage this branding. But anyone who is interested reaching a peace must be recruited for switching it off.
And here you have a person who explains it the best way.

A sure fire way to get the truth out to the public would be to have Spielberg make a film about it.
This story is crying out to be told I cannot understand why it has not been done yet.

  • E.S.Lombard

Israel’s not so secret weapon has been the Muslim addiction to believing the lies they tell others and themselves. Once they deal with facts and reality…..

  • Mohamed al Dura was a retarded boy and was of greater value dead, to the “Palestinian Cause” than alive. His father was responsible for this on orders from his leaders. The world believes what it wants to believe and France is guilty – again – in perpertrating this lie.

  • Isn’t this too late?

Hamas Commander Reportedly Urges Hezbollah to Join Forces Against Israel

JNS.org – Five months after Israeli forces tried to assassinate Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif in Gaza, Deif appears to have signed a letter that the terrorist group claims he wrote in hiding. The letter, addressed to Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, expressed Deif’s condolences for the death of Hezbollah terrorists during Sunday’s reported Israeli airstrike in Syria. Deif is said to have survived multiple assassination attempts, but he has not been seen in public for years. According to the Hezbollah-linked Al-Manar [...]

Shlomo Carlebach Musical Has the Soul to Heal Frayed Race Relations

JNS.org – The cracks that had been simply painted over for so long began to show in Ferguson, Mo., in November 2014, but in truth they had begun to open wide much earlier—on Saturday, July 13, 2013. That is when a jury in Sanford, Fla., acquitted George Zimmerman of culpability for the death of a 17-year-old black man, Trayvon Martin. The cracks receded from view over time, as other news obscured them. Then came the evening of Aug. 9, 2014, [...]

‘Homeland’ Season Finale Stirs Controversy After Comparing Menachem Begin to Taliban Leader

A controversial scene in the season finale of Homeland sparked outrage by comparing former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin to a fictional Taliban leader, the UK’s Daily Mail reported. In the season 4 finale episode, which aired on Dec. 21, CIA black ops director Dar Adal, played by F. Murray Abraham, justifies a deal he made with a Taliban leader by referencing Begin. He makes the remarks in a conversation with former CIA director Saul Berenson, a Jewish character played by Mandy [...]

Placing Matisyahu Back Within a Life of Observance

Shining Light on Fiction During the North Korea-Sony saga, we learned two important lessons. The first is that there are two sides to this story, and neither of them are correct because ultimately we should have neither inappropriate movies nor dictators. The second is that we cannot remain entirely fixed on the religious world, but we also must see beyond the external, secular view of reality. It’s important to ground our Torah-based thoughts into real-life activism. To view our act [...]

Nine Decades of Moses at the Movies

JNS.org – Hollywood has had its share of big-budget biblical flops, but until now, the Exodus narrative has not been among them. Studios have brought Moses to the big screen sparingly, but in ways that defined the image and character of Moses for each generation of audiences. The first biblical epic In 1923, director Cecil B. DeMille left it to the American public to decide the subject of his next movie for Paramount. DeMille received a letter from a mechanic [...]

    Exodus on Screen (REVIEW)

JNS.org – The story of the Exodus from Egypt is a tale as old as time itself, to borrow a turn of phrase. It’s retold every Passover, both at the seder table and whenever “The Ten Commandments” is aired on television. But the latest adaptation—Ridley Scott’s epic film, “Exodus: Gods and Kings”—fails to meet expectations. Scott’s “Exodus” alters the source material to service the story and ground the tale, but the attempt to reinvent the biblical narrative becomes laughable. Moses [...]
