U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met with the father of one of the men killed during the Mavi Marmara flotilla incident in Washington last week while Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu was in town.

According to Turkey’s Hurriyet Daily News, Ahmet Doğan, whose son Furkan Doğan was a Turkish-American dual citizen, met with Kerry May 17th. He handed Kerry a letter for U.S. President Barack Obama and gave information about the pending trial of Israeli soldiers involved in the raid.

TheBlaze published tweets from Davutoğlu’s Twitter account that detailed the meeting.

“This morning I had breakfast with my American colleague John Kerry. Ahmet Doğan, the father of Furkan Doğan, one of the Mavi Marmara martyrs, also attended,” the first tweet says.

“We shared the events on the Mavi Marmara and Furkan’s pain,” says the second.

And finally: “Ahmet gave the letter addressed to Mr. Obama to Mr. Kerry. Mr. Kerry said that he would pass the letter on to President Obama.”

In April, Kerry drew criticism for comparing the families mourning their loved ones killed in the Boston Marathon bombing with the families of those killed on the Mavi Marmara after those aboard the boat attempted to lynch IDF troops who boarded their vessel for a routine inspection. Seven of those aboard the Mavi Marmara had expressed a desire to become “martyrs.”

How is it that most of the world forgets that the Mavi Marmara had a large weapons cache on board? How is that peaceful dissidence? Wake up Mr. Kerry and stop pandering to terrorists in sheeps’ clothing!
They got what they deserved! No apologies or reparations whatsoever to these thugs.

The United States of America’s founding was based on standing for what’s right in the world.

The United States of America’s Secretary of State has not learned this yet. Where was he found?

It may be an uncomfortable marriage but Turkey and Israel more and more are fated to have to sleep in the same bed.
Especially if an Alawite/Hezbollah/Irani/Syriac entity evolves on the Mediterannean shore…under a Russian umbrella.
With a population close to Egypts, a booming trillion dollar economy and a huge military it fills a lot of the bed..israel has to remember that many nations in the area also want a relationship with Turkey- Israel must accept that..the other alternative “friend” for some may be Iran..Israel does not want to force that to happen.

  • This is an outrage! Kerry is showing support for terrorists. Israel must NEVER trust Kerry.

  • A botched circumcision caused Kerry’s severe brain damage.

    John Kerry is an idiot.
why he was ever appointed as Sec of State, is beyond meny people.

One only has to ask those who served with him in Vietnam, that he is a liar and a fool.

The US, Turkey and Israel “need each other.” But is it worth the price?

  • John Kerry does not represent the majority of Americans. Like his boss, a meeting for propaganda purposes with terrorists cloaked as innocent victims is ok. The only thing worse was legitimizing a mass murderer like Arafat by the likes of another group of buffoons, Israeli and American. Pretending that Turkey and Erdogan are friends for political purposes is just enabling them to promote their Islamist ambitions.

  • Ms Walker has a right to her opinions. She does not insist that you or I or the next person believe or agree with her. Let her speak. Let each of us decide for ourselves whether what she says is acceptable to us or not.

If you want to believe what she says is true, then you will be judged as she herself is judged. It’s that simple.

Let’s be honest: SHE thinks she’s right. Maybe WE are all the crazy ones!! A lot of people thought Alexander Graham Bell was crazy, too.

Ehhh…there’s a phone call for ya!

  • As a life long supporter of Stalinist North Vietnam, Jew killing is no big deal for Kerry just as it was no big deal for his mentor Joe Stalin.

    • Are you really comparing Alice Walker’s endorsement of David Icke’s conspiracy theories to Alexander Graham Bell’s pursuit of various mechanical devices that led to modern telecommunications, hovercraft etc.?

there’s a name for that sort of “reasoning” and it does not imply much intelligence.

‘Homeland’ Season Finale Stirs Controversy After Comparing Menachem Begin to Taliban Leader

A controversial scene in the season finale of Homeland sparked outrage by comparing former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin to a fictional Taliban leader, the UK’s Daily Mail reported. In the season 4 finale episode, which aired on Dec. 21, CIA black ops director Dar Adal, played by F. Murray Abraham, justifies a deal he made with a Taliban leader by referencing Begin. He makes the remarks in a conversation with former CIA director Saul Berenson, a Jewish character played by Mandy [...]

Placing Matisyahu Back Within a Life of Observance

Shining Light on Fiction During the North Korea-Sony saga, we learned two important lessons. The first is that there are two sides to this story, and neither of them are correct because ultimately we should have neither inappropriate movies nor dictators. The second is that we cannot remain entirely fixed on the religious world, but we also must see beyond the external, secular view of reality. It’s important to ground our Torah-based thoughts into real-life activism. To view our act [...]

Nine Decades of Moses at the Movies

JNS.org – Hollywood has had its share of big-budget biblical flops, but until now, the Exodus narrative has not been among them. Studios have brought Moses to the big screen sparingly, but in ways that defined the image and character of Moses for each generation of audiences. The first biblical epic In 1923, director Cecil B. DeMille left it to the American public to decide the subject of his next movie for Paramount. DeMille received a letter from a mechanic [...]

    Exodus on Screen (REVIEW)

JNS.org – The story of the Exodus from Egypt is a tale as old as time itself, to borrow a turn of phrase. It’s retold every Passover, both at the seder table and whenever “The Ten Commandments” is aired on television. But the latest adaptation—Ridley Scott’s epic film, “Exodus: Gods and Kings”—fails to meet expectations. Scott’s “Exodus” alters the source material to service the story and ground the tale, but the attempt to reinvent the biblical narrative becomes laughable. Moses [...]

‘Jewish Food Movement’ Comes of Age

JNS.org - In December 2007, leaders of the Hazon nonprofit drafted seven-year goals for what they coined as the “Jewish Food Movement,” which has since been characterized by the increased prioritization of healthy eating, sustainable agriculture, and food-related activism in the Jewish community. What do the next seven years hold in store? “One thing I would like to see happen in the next seven years is [regarding] the issue of sugar, soda, and obesity, [seeing] what would it be like to rally the [...]

JNS.org – Forget the dioramas. How about working on an Israeli Air Force drone? That’s exactly the kind of beyond-their-years access enjoyed by students at the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) industrial vocational high school run by Israel Sci-Tech Schools, the largest education network in the Jewish state. More than 300 students (250 on the high school level and 68 at a two-year vocational academy) get hands-on training in the disciplines of aviation mechanics, electricity and energy control, and unmanned air [...]

JNS.org – Low enlistment rates in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). High rates of poverty. Communal resistance to traditional schooling. Difficulty finding employment or a lack of motivation to be employed. These conditions are shared by two sectors of the Israeli population that the casual observer likely wouldn’t group together: haredi Jews and Bedouin. Through its operation of schools for each population, however, the Israel Sci-Tech Schools Network seeks to give haredim and Bedouin a brighter future in the Jewish [...]

New Play Explores the ‘Arrogance’ of American Jews Critical of Israel, Playwright Says

In his new play Mr. Goldberg Goes to Tel Aviv, playwright Oren Safdie tackles an issue that is a cause of great concern to him: the relationship between Israelis and left-leaning Diaspora Jews with their “I know better” critical views. At the heart of the one-act play is Tony, a Jewish and gay Palestinian sympathizer who expresses strong anti-Israel sentiments when the play begins and at one point even sides with a Palestinian terrorist who holds him captive. Tony, who is [...]
