Shani Boianjiu.

Israeli wunderkind novelist Shani Boianjiu, is giving a public reading Tuesday night in Brooklyn, NY to mark the paperback release of her debut novel The People of Forever Are Not Afraid.

Boianjiu, named to The Algemeiner’s J100 list earlier this year, spoke to The Algemeneiner about the event, her first in the U.S.:

“I’ve had literary events in places like Budapest and in Sweden and the UK, but I haven’t really had a US event before, even though I wrote my book in English and studied here. So I am really excited to read parts of my book I haven’t read before that are perhaps more challenging and to talk about whatever it is people want to talk about, particularly now that more people can buy the book because it is available in paperback,” she said.

Boianjiu’s novel was considered one of the top releases of the Fall and was met with much acclaim, with New York Magazine calling it “that one debut to get excited about.”

The event will take place at Word Brooklyn. It starts at 7 p.m. and is free.

I read this “wunderkind”‘s book and was underwhelmed by her teen-age angst and drama. As an NRA range safety officer, former IDF Shlave Betnick and US Marine, I was appalled at the way she ran her training range. G-d must have been sitting on her shoulders that she didn’t get someone killed, including herself.

Someone as worldly and experienced as you definitely checked the front cover to see if the book is fictional. Right?
I’m surprised you haven’t gotten someone killed on range, while lacking such attention to detail.

Awesome! Shani is a great writer we’ll be hearing more from after this stellar book!
