Israeli wunderkind novelist Shani Boianjiu, is giving a public reading Tuesday night in Brooklyn, NY to mark the paperback release of her debut novel The People of Forever Are Not Afraid.

Boianjiu, named to The Algemeiner’s J100 list earlier this year, spoke to The Algemeneiner about the event, her first in the U.S.:

“I’ve had literary events in places like Budapest and in Sweden and the UK, but I haven’t really had a US event before, even though I wrote my book in English and studied here. So I am really excited to read parts of my book I haven’t read before that are perhaps more challenging and to talk about whatever it is people want to talk about, particularly now that more people can buy the book because it is available in paperback,” she said.

Boianjiu’s novel was considered one of the top releases of the Fall and was met with much acclaim, with New York Magazine calling it “that one debut to get excited about.”

The event will take place at Word Brooklyn. It starts at 7 p.m. and is free.
