Israel’s Counter-Terrorism Office issued a stern warning for all Israelis to leave the Sinai on concerns the recent unrest in Egypt could lead to kidnappings.
Last week, Egypt closed the Rafah border crossing to prevent Muslim Brotherhood supporters in Gaza from entering Egypt.
The Counter-Terrorism Office raised its warning to its highest level on Sunday night after re-assessing the risk.
Israel’s Channel 2 cited Israeli Defense officials who said contact with Egyptian General al-Sisi has been on-going to manage the Sinai border, and will continue despite the coup.
