The Obama Administration has dispatched Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns to Egypt, according to a State Department news release.

“Deputy Secretary Bill Burns will visit Cairo, Egypt from July 14 to July 16. While in Cairo, he will meet with interim government officials as well as civil society and business leaders. In all these meetings, he will underscore U.S. support for the Egyptian people, an end to all violence, and a transition leading to an inclusive, democratically elected civilian government,” announced the release.

Burns is the highest-level U.S. official to visit Egypt since the removal of Mohammed Morsi.
