Financial Times – Catherine Ashton, the EU’s foreign policy chief, held two hours of talks with Mohamed Morsi, the ousted Egyptian leader, in Cairo late on Monday, becoming the first western diplomat to meet the detained former president since his toppling nearly a month ago.
Aides to Lady Ashton did not immediately give details of the discussions other than to say they were “in depth” and that Mr Morsi “seemed well”. The location of the meeting was not disclosed.
