Politico – The New York Times editorial board said Eliot Spitzer “lacks the qualities” needed for the job of city comptroller as it endorsed his opponent Scott Stringer in the high-profile Democratic primary race.
Spitzer, who resigned as governor amid a prostitution scandal and has since sought personal and political redemption, “entered the race at the last minute, seemingly for no reason except to thrust himself back into the limelight,” the board of New York’s paper of record wrote in an editorial published online Friday. ” … But that is a problem: it’s the same character, in a different play, on the wrong stage.”
