The total reward that is now being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of slain businessman Menachem Stark’s killers, has been raised to $72,000, according to a statement released by Stark’s family.

The full amount is made up of $50,000 provided by the family, $20,000 from the New York Police Department and $2,000 from the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers program. The initial bounty offered by the family was $25,000.

Rabbi David Niederman, a family friend, and the Executive Director of the United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg told The Algemeiner that while the family is in the dark as to the police investigation’s latest progress, after the initial reward of $25,000 was announced it elicited a response from the public.

“We don’t know were the investigation is holding, but we saw that since the reward was upgraded to $25,000 more tips came in,” he said. “We are racing against the clock here, and therefore the family is increasing it so that more information should come in.”

“There are 7 orphans in Brooklyn, and a loving grieving wife – and we hope and pray there will be justice. We thank the law enforcement community for their hard work, and echo Commissioner Bratton’s call for the public’s assistance in solving this case,” he added.

Stark was abducted by two men on Friday morning who were seen on surveillance footage bundling him into a white van. He was found dead on Saturday in a Long Island dumpster burnt from the waist down.

“The family is very concerned to make sure that the perpetrators be caught as soon as possible, before any lead to them vanishes,” Niederman told The Algemeiner on Monday.

On Tuesday, NYPD Chief of Department Philip Banks paid a visit to the mourning family in Brooklyn, and New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton held a press conference to update the public on the ongoing investigation into Stark’s murder.
