For the second night in a row Israel was attacked by Gaza terrorists who fired a rocket towards the coastal city of Ashkelon, an Israel Defense Forces spokesperson said. The assault took place at approximately 8:50 p.m. local time.
“#Gaza terrorists launched another rocket at #Israel #IDF sirens sounded the alarm, thankfully It fell short,” wrote the IDF’s Peter Lerner on Twitter. Earlier on Thursday the Islamic Jihad terror group took responsibility for yesterday’s attack.
Following the volley on Wednesday the IDF targeted a rocket launcher and a weapons facility.
Earlier this week, more rockets were fired as Israel buried former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon at his family ranch near the Gaza border.
The Israel Defense Forces routinely stipulate that they hold terror group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, responsible for all attacks emanating from the territory.
