Secretary of State Kerry: Go Back to America and Forget About Israel

In a recent edition of Israel Hayom – the largest Israeli newspaper, which is owned by billionaire philanthropist Sheldon Adelson – the lead article basically calls John Kerry an idiot.

The quotes in the article are simply amazing and are the sort that are rarely seen in print:

[S]enior Israeli diplomatic officials have called Kerry’s security plan for the Jordan Valley ‘ridiculous and unable to withstand the test of reality.’ “ŽDiplomatic officials also said: ‘Kerry visits here a lot, but he does not display any understanding of what is happening here. The U.S. plans are superficial and not serious. There is no connection between what is said in public about the progress of the negotiations and what is actually happening.

It seems that Kerry is just not in touch with reality. He is not an expert, to say the least, on the roots of the conflict, he does not know how to create real solutions and does not even demonstrate proficiency in reading maps that are presented to him.’

More recently, in Israel’s second largest paper, Yediot Achronot, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon was quoted as saying, “American Secretary of State John Kerry, who turned up here determined and acting out of misplaced obsession and messianic fervor, cannot teach me anything about the conflict with the Palestinians.” He added, “The American security plan presented to us is not worth the paper it’s written on. It contains no peace and no security.”

As Ya’alon rightfully stated ,”Throughout the recent months, there is no negotiation between us and the Palestinians, but rather, between us and the Americans. The only thing that can ‘save’ us is that John Kerry will get a Nobel Peace Prize and leave us alone.”

The Defense Minister’s statement requires no further explanation. While naturally, in the interest of diplomacy, he apologized, he didn’t even deny the statement. He stood by it, and he was right to do so. Given this Administration’s repeated failures in the Middle East – the region is much more anti-American than it was at the start of the Obama reign – this assessment is clearly right on. Kerry is outmatched and his work has greatly harmed Western interests.

Ze’ev Jabotinsky‘s words written many years ago are still true and accurate today:

Peace with the Arabs is, of course, to be desired. There is no need for a discussion on this matter among the Jews. All of us, one hundred percent of us, want peace. And there could have been peace already (true peace, founded not on love, but on objective factors). … I have met with our peace-seekers many times, and at every meeting I asked them: why do you spend all your time preaching morality to the Jews? Go to the Arabs, and find out from them under what conditions they are willing to come to terms with us. And I am certainly not the only one to have asked this question. Nevertheless, they insist on not approaching the Arabs. Rather, they are gravely insulted when others approach the Arabs, and present to them the plans of the peace-seekers and ask how they, the Arabs, view these plans.

Secretary of State Kerry: Go back to America and just forget about Israel.
