Israeli Restaurants to Host French Chefs for Culinary Initiative
by JNS.org
JNS.org – Nineteen celebrated French chefs arrived in Israel to launch the second annual So French So Tasty week. From Feb. 10-12, the chefs will cook in the kitchens of Israel’s most popular restaurants. The initiative is a collaboration between the French Embassy, the French Institute in Israel, and UBIFRANCE, the French agency for export promotion.
Restaurants from all over Israel are participating. In addition, the chefs will hold cooking workshops for the public, cooking competitions, and winery tours. The event opened with a baking competition between Israeli and French cooking students judged by France’s Head Chef Guillaume Gomez, who was chief chef at the Elysee Palace. Israeli Minister of Tourism Uzi Landau and French Ambassador to Israel Patrick Maisonnave arrived Monday morning and competed with the students.
“During French week, every Israeli minister wishes he was the minister the tourism,” Landau said at a press conference Sunday, reported the Times of Israel.
