A female wolf that wreaked havoc in northern Israel was shot dead by officials from the Department of Parks and Recreation, Israel’s Channel 2 reported on Thursday.
More than ten people across the city of Tiberias were bitten by the wandering animal before its reign of terror ended. The wolf was finally caught after attacking a father and daughter near Kibbutz Ginosar. An autopsy performed on the ferocious female revealed that it had been infected with rabies, Channel 2 said.
A video obtained by Channel 2 (below) shows the cantankerous canine in action, attacking a man and woman outside their Tiberias apartment.
According to Amit Dolev, an ecologist who works for the northern region’s Department of Parks and Recreation, the wolf was “a mature female.” Although it displayed no physical signs of being rabid, she said its behavior was symptomatic of an animal that had been infected: “Biting people without fear is a classic sign of rabies. Wolves don’t generally attack people.”
