Israeli tourists were denied the right to disembark from the Norwegian Jade, a vessel operated by the Norwegian Cruise Line, when it stopped in the Port of Tunis, Tunisia recently, Jewish human rights organization B’nai Brith Canada said on Sunday.

As passengers prepared to get off the ship to visit the North African republic, the Israelis were quietly told that they were not welcomed by the Tunisian Government, the group said in a statement.

The cruise line did not advise the passengers in advance that Israeli tourists would be confined to the ship for the stop. Other Jewish passengers were unaware that their coreligionists were being detained, since no public announcements were made. They were outraged when it became known, B’nai Brith Canada said.

The group’s CEO, Frank Dimant, said the Norwegian Cruise Line has “a responsibility to its passengers” to “advise them of this discriminatory policy in advance.”

“Better still the cruise line should avoid ports that have such policies,” he added.

B’nai Brith Canada says it is the only national, independent voice of Jewish Canadians.

    business talking now
1- Israeli tourist market is not one of our goals.
2- The world tourism market is larger than the Israeli market we could target russian market, or algerian market, or…, Saudi market, japanese market
… we could create our cruising companies so there is always better opportunity and better deal
3-the Israeli tourist market does not show a good deal in perspective it could be a source of trouble politically and diplomatically and security and it could damage our relations with other Arab countries and our relations with our neighbors countries and even many local businessmen and a large part of the Tunisian people is not with the Normalization of relations.

  • The answer is obvious: Not to board Norwegian Cruise Line, and who in the H would want to step foot in Tunis anyway?

  • Do you realize that Muslims are not allowed to debark when they visit the Israeli ports? Neither one is right, but make sure you are aware of the complete story, not just the side that the Jewish media perpetuates.

    • Of course, your comment is pure foolishness. All religions are welcome to debark at Israeli ports and enjoy the country. You are foolish.

    • First of all: “debark”??? Really?
Secondly, all tourists of any religion or nationality is welcome to visit Israel and it’s ports, your comment lacks sense and adds to anti-semitic views.

    • As the Muslims of the M.E. have a history of bombing, murder and suicide attacks and as they Muslims of M.E. have vowed to wipe out Israel it is hardly surprising they cannot simply walk into Israel. However, to say that ‘Muslims’ aren’t allowed into Israel is completely false. Many Muslims live in Israel and even serve on the Knesset and in the IDF. Israelis do not go around bombing and causing terrorist atrocities so the say there is another side to the story is downright false and dishonest minded.

    • Muslims LIVE in the State of Israel! Your ignorance is the kind of garbage that creates illegitimate hatred !

    • Tunisian cocroaches… i rather stay on board…

    • Winston Blake

judaic bolshevist mammonism (baphomet) = mahomet (muslim brotherhood)

    • Where did you get this information? 2 million Muslims are citizens of Israel. They get on and off ships. Why do you perpetuate lies and refuse to recognize the antisemitism and racism of many Arab countries?

    • Good try, Vivian. Of course, you’re mendacity marks you as a Jew hater par excellence.

You really think you can get away with this taqiyya/deception? Shame on you!

Examine your lack of scruples and do the right thing by printing a retraction to your boldfaced lie.

Too many people have visited Israel – the only democracy in the Middle East – where everyone is entitled to freedom of religion – except jihad (a.k.a. murder) – to know that you are lying before G-d.

      Repent for you egregious sin.

  • Tunisia has been advertising recently extensively on UK television. I think the Advertising Standards Authority should be told of the way that Israelis are treated if they try to disembark as many British Jews have dual nationality, and due to the high cost of passport renewal , some do not bother to renew their British passports and travel on the Israeli passport.

  • When Palestinians can travel freely I would be concerned about this but they dont so I wont. Those poor Israelis.

    • Palestinians have a history of suicide bombings and murder. No country lets terrorists roam freely.

    • Palestinians live and work in Israel. Visit and see. Don’t swallow whole and listen to propaganda. YES IDs are checked when people travel from Palestinian CONTROLLED territories into
Israel, but that would stop if those people in The territories would stop terrorizing Israelis and recognize their neighbors and would want to live peacefully .

  • If Truth-in-Labeling and False ID statutes still apply, Norwegian Cruise Line must be renamed No Vegan Cruise Line.

  • Everyone should write a letter to an email or letter to Mr. Kevin Sheehan, President, Norwegian Cruise Lines, 7665 Corporate CEnter Drive, Miami, Fl. 33126 that they were planning to go on a NCL cruise, but because NCL allowed discrimination against Israeli Jews, you are now booking another cruise ship. His email address is ksheehan@ncl.com

    • JACOB MANDELBLUM

      Dear Mr GRAULICH :

Given the Norweigan position regarding Israel, I wouldn’t
buy Jarlsberg cheese and much less book a cruise in their
      line…

But I’m sure our Jews will…….

  • I would imagine the QE1 AND 2 had SAS onboard just in case, now just like air marshalls on passenger jets it would be a good idea for some crise ships to have some capable people onboard. British Air and El Al very safe carriers!

  • Bart A. Charta

As someone who cruises extensively and for prolonged periods of time, I know that all cruise lines are fully aware of the visitor visa policies of the countries to which they sail. However, uniformly they don’t inform Israeli passengers in advance that they will be denied disembarkation as visitors, not only most North African countries, but also in Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka – unless they have 2nd passports, and unless those are the ones with visitor visas. Since most of the Muslim World ports on cruise itineraries are physically dirty, mainly 3rd world countries, I don’t count it as a big loss. Has anyone ever been to a clean Arab Muslim city, or is that concept also an oxymoron?

The Norwegians are a separate, unrelated, issue. However, they foolishly followed the rest of Europe and allowed Arab Muslims, who were unhappy with their lives in their home countries, to come to Norway, shortly after which the guests turned it into Hellstinkistan – a phenomenon well known throughout Western Europe, where they imported to the guest country all the degrading, sick, perverted and evil manners and outlooks that made their lives miserable in their native lands, but which they seek to duplicate in the guest countries. Good for Norway and the rest of Eurabia. The deserve the sewerage they are getting.

  • Interesting, Palestinians accuse Israel of having apartheid policies (clearly they are mis-informed or just can’t be bothered to tell the truth)….even so will they accuse Tunisa too, or maybe an organisation like Amnesty International will take that challenge on?

    • JACOB MANDELBLUM

Rest assured that all those accusing Israel of practicing
“APARTHEID” don’t know the meaning of the word, since comparing the S. African regime of said name with the one
Arabs have in Israel, doesn’t come even come remotely to comparing apples to shoes….

But then again, words don’t kill…

  • Well. That is money back on that trip to nowhere. Hope the sailing was worth that for the passengers.

  • The problem is not with the Norwegian cruise company but the Tunisia new legislations regarding Israeli passports . In the past many Israelis used to travel to Tunisia and did not encounter any problem .

  • Michael Garfinkel

Chilling echos of the S.S. St. Louis.

    Another sign of the times…

    • JACOB MANDELBLUM

      Mr Garfinkel :

Now that you brought about the SAINT LOUIS issue, how about rubbing it on the noses of the American Jews who wept for FDR, (who had in his hands the Saint Louis fate and didn’t do piddly squat), more than what they would have wept for MOSES, would he have died at the same time and look who 80% of them more recently sent to the White House and 70% of them still having the gall of reelecting this “Sorcerer Apprentice”….????
      Are American Jews genetically DEMOCRAPS…?????

      • No, not all American Jews are members of the Democratic party, neither are we all blind followers of BHO. I have witnessed an increasing trend toward independent or conservative ideologies within the Jewish community here in Texas. But the driving ideal behind Jewish ideology is peace. As a people, as a country, we will do almost anything for peace.

        • @J S Bush

Am glad about the trend you observed in Texas!

In California it does not seem to be…

The peace you talk about, is great, but the ultimate ideal of Judaism is to BE FREE!
Peace is only secondary to FREEDOM OF RELIGION!
This is the idea of Judaism, but the better known idiom came from Patrick Henry
“Give me liberty or give me death!”

And that is the amazing fact, that Jews are MOSTLY in support of the MOST OPPRESSIVE SOCIALIST DOCTRINES!
Democracy IS NOT FREEDOM! And Socialism is ABSOLUTELY not!
Democracies are by nature SOCIALIST SYSTEMS!
The United States IS NOT A DEMOCRACY! The word DEMOCRACY is not to be found in the founding papers — and The Founders condemned DEMOCRACY as TYRANNY OF THE MAJORITY!

      • You are so right on everything you said.

      • THUMBS UP!

  • My Planet Israel

What a disgrace. Dead silence from the left: prejudice loonies probably agree with it. This is simply deplorable.

  • Judy Silver-Shapiro

Norway has escalating ANTI ISRAEL ANTI SEMITISM over the past several years. Norway is in bed with muslim JIHADISTS. Why would any JEW in his or her right mind travel on a Norwegian vessel in 2014?

  • What’s it got to do with the Norwegians. No other ship covuld let Israelis off in Tunisia either. The ship can’t control the immigration policies of any country, and is not responsible for them. Why would anyone expect Tunisia to allow entry to citizens of a country that is officially at war with it?

    • What’s this got to do with Norwegian?

They go along with this Jew-hatred, that’s what it’s got to do with them.

They can simply refuse to go to Tunisia. It’s not like there isn’t fifty other places in the Mediterranean you can go. If people are so damn interested in seeing Arab/Berber culture, let them dock in Morocco, where I believe Israelis can go.

    • JACOB MANDELBLUM

Then the company or their agents should have had between
their con conditions/instructions to the clients, a list of countries that won’t allow in Israeli passport bearers and not confront them with a “fait accompli”…

  • This is disgusting! I was on this same cruise and ship late last year. I considered Tunisia, because of its Jewish heritage to be a highlight of my cruise. As an American Jew, I would not have disembarked in Tunis in protest if this was known to me. Furthermore, I would not have taken this cruise at all if advised of the policy before booking. NCL AKA Carnival, (Israeli owned)should be ashamed to offer this itinerary.

  • Israeli citizens – and Jewish tourists – should be smarter than this, and avoid any visits to Arab countries. Don’t plead bias; just plead ignorance

  • if Norwegian do not avoid such ports, Jews should simply avoid cruising on such ships

  • NCL was co-founded by Jewish businessman Ted Arison whose daughter, Shari, is an Israeli. He later bought Carnival Cruise Lines. Both companies are headquartered in Miami, FL, and neither have ever been headquartered in Norway. Mr. Arison’s son, Micky, is now the CEO of Carnival.

    • It is rumored Arnold Donald replaced C.E.O. Micky Arison.

If Arisons still control, would NCL rename Jade as Jude?

That would generate Islamic attention, don’t you think?

  • M.A. Kinamohn

We in the U.S.A. should deny all muslims also!

    • Meredith Fisher

Please do not let meanness cause you to suggest retaliation with meanness. It only makes things worse. Jews have not liked individual Jews to be judged because of what another Jew does Please be careful not to generalize against all moslems. It is sad that there is so much meanness in the world. Please don’t add to it.

  • Now thiis is Apartheid.
Perhaps the Norwegian government will have something to say about tis discrimination.
    I doubt it.
    Their silence will be deafining.

  • I’m laughing hysterically as Norway is being taken over by muslims! They deserve it with their backing of the arabs against the Jews/Israel! Any Jew that gets on a Norwegian cruise ship must be woefully ignorant of that fact! Just say no to giving your money to any Norwegian business!

  • Perhaps the management of Norwegian Cruise Lines could make a stand for humanity by no longer stopping in Tunisia and have their passengers disembark to spend money. The people in Tunisia may hate Jews, but they love tourists coming and spending money.

  • It is certainly unsatisfying for Cruize participants not to be allowed to disembark for a short visit of the countryside, but are such cruise-travellers generally exempt from normal Visa requirements or did nobody think beforehand of the non-existance of diplomatic relations between Israel and Tunesia ?

  • Mel Sherwood

Norway might want to consider denying muslims the right to disembark from their planes and trains when they arrive in the land of the Fjords to take the place over.
    Halal koldtbord anyone?

  • And what did you expect from the Norwegians?

    • BlueShadowII

Yes, NCL should have advised Jewish passengers before boarding that the *Tunisian government* would not allow them to disembark at Tunis. Then again, were those Jewish passengers so naive as to assume that they would be able to visit an Islamic country?

Beyond that, you might want to narrow your brush a bit: NCL is based in Florida and is owned primarily by a Malaysian investment group. (see http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_Cruise_Line). Aside from the name, NCL has no ties to Norway.

Surviving the Holocaust by Hiding Their Faith (REVIEW)

“Jews Out!” was just the name of a child’s game that three little girls played in World War II Europe. But all is not as it seems because the three girls were Jewish, but hiding their true identities. In award-winning author R. D. Rosen’s riveting non-fiction work, Such Good Girls, “Jews Out!” wasn’t a game; it was a struggle for survival. The girls, Sophie, Flora, and Carla, grew up at a time and a place that did not allow them [...]

JNS.org – “He was part hippie, part yippie, part beatnik, and part New Age,” wrote Elli Wohlgelernter in a Jerusalem Post eulogy in 1994, following the Oct. 20 passing of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach. Twenty years later, more robust accounts of Carlebach’s life have come to the surface. Earlier this year, Natan Ophir published the book Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach: Life, Mission & Legacy. This past summer, Rabbi Shlomo Katz’s The Soul of Jerusalem hit the shelves. But even the authors will admit [...]

Beatlemania Invades the Gaza Strip (SATIRE)

As Hamas loses its grip on power in the Gaza Strip as a result of war, poverty and disillusionment, the Islamist terrorist group has developed an ingenious way to raise the moral of the 1.7 million Palestinian Arabs it was elected to serve. While currently focused on delivering a rocket into every Israeli home, Hamas has not left its own people behind. To gently wipe away the tears of children strategically placed inside kindergartens as human shields, the Hamas Interior Ministry has [...]

Removing Jesus’ Jewish Identity From Artwork

In a strong statement that challenges the historic divide between Christianity and Judaism, Pope Francis recently proclaimed, “Inside every Christian is a Jew.” But if you look at Renaissance artworks that depict Jesus, you will not find any evidence of a Jew inside the Christianized Jesus — even though the Gospels in the New Testament tell us that Jesus was Jewish to the core. Getting that point across to the public is a daunting task, as I learned in interviews I [...]

Why the Holocaust Occurred in Germany, and Why So Few Resisted (REVIEW)

It’s hard to make a new contribution to the field of Holocaust studies,  but German historian Götz Aly accomplishes just that in Why the Germans, Why the Jews? His premise is that the origins of the Holocaust were rooted in the specific anti-Semitism found in Germany in the decades and centuries before World War II. Aly (who is not Jewish) seeks to prove his theory by studying only pre-Holocaust history, and tracing how the German people’s envy and hatred of [...]
