Pop icon Madonna treated her Instagram followers to a sneak peek of her Purim getup on Sunday.
Outfitted as Daenerys Targaryen from the HBO series Game of Thrones, the singer, who practices Kabbalah, Jewish mysticism, channeled the beloved Mother of Dragons character with long wavy white-blond hair and Daenerys’ battle costume. She captioned the Instagram shot, “Happy Purim!!!!! All Hail All Queens! ##certainty.”
The pop queen’s Instagram followers responded positively. “This is pretty badass. Guest star on the show!” one wrote. “Just perfect!!!” said another.
Madonna was raised Catholic but began practicing Kabbalah in 1997, according to The Wrap.
Her Hebrew name, Esther, is the same as the heroine of the Purim story, the ancient Persian Queen Esther who saved the Jewish people from a plot to exterminate them.
Season 4 of Game of Thrones starts April 6. The series, which debuted in 2011, is about seven noble families fighting for control of the mythical land of Westeros. Daenerys Targaryen is played by Emilia Clarke on the television series.
