A Jewish resident of Price Hill, Cincinnati, said he fears for his safety after he discovered a swastika spray-painted on the front door of his home on Thursday morning, local TV station WLWT5 reported.
The victim, Ralph Ford, said he has not stopped shaking since he found the hateful marking.
He felt “instant fear, more scared than I have ever been, cold chills ran all the way through me,” he told WLWT5. “I fear for my wife. I fear for our safety.”
The Fords have been living in the home for about two years and are house sitting for a friend.
Police say the incident, which was reported immediately, is being investigated as a hate crime.
Ford said there have been some tensions in the Price Hill neighborhood, but he never expected to become a target.
A group was recently seen chanting “white power” in the streets of the town according to WLWT5, but it is uncertain if the two incidents are connected in any way. Ford told the news station he has no idea who could be responsible for the crime.
He said he is planning to move as soon as he can, though he is unlikely to do so before June.
