Ellen DeGeneres’s production company, A Very Good Production, bought the rights to Israeli TV show The Gran Plan, which stars three grandmothers “who use their rich life experiences to help the younger generation deal with personal crises,” Israel’s Globes business daily reported on Wednesday.
The Gran Plan, which is airing in Israel today, is owned by Artza Productions and Channel 10.
Talk show host DeGeneres is expected to produce a television pilot based on the format. In total, rights to develop the show have been acquired by 27 countries, including China, Russia, Brazil and Switzerland.
A Very Good Production is part of Warner Bros. TV Group.
Globes also reported that U.S. television network NBC bought spy thriller Allegiance, which is based on the Israeli series The Gordin Cell from George Nolfi, who directed the pilot.
The Gordin Cell was produced by Tedy Productions and distributed globally by Keshet International.
