A Nazareth court on Sunday extended for the third time a gag order on details of the May 1 murder of 20-year-old Shelly Dadon in an empty parking lot in northern Migdal Haemek.

“Shelly’s mother can’t stop crying,” said Alon, one of Dadon’s cousins.

Her parents had filed a missing persons report at the police station in nearby Afula scant minutes after Dadon’s body was found. Dadon was on her way to a job interview when she was killed.

“For Shelly’s parents, it’s as though she was murdered only a few days ago,” Alon told Israeli daily, Ma’ariv. “They’re not able to get over it, and it looks like they’ll need psychological counseling” in order to cope with the continuing trauma, he added.

Northern District Police Commander Moshe Cohen said at the time that initial evidence found at the scene led investigators to focus on nationalistic motives, Channel 10 reported.

“The investigation has made very great strides, which can only be described as dramatic,” Public Security Minister Yitzchak Aharonovitz told family member at a condolence visit two weeks ago, according to The Times of Israel. “The murderers will be arrested soon and will pay the price,” he vowed, calling the killing “one of the most despicable acts.”

Nine days after the murder, some 2,000 people marched in Afula in Dadon’s memory and called for the punishment of the perpetrators, holding signs that read “Shelly’s blood is our blood,” “Netanyahu – wake up” and “Shelly was murdered and the nation is silent.”

However, despite initial speculation that the killing was a terror attack perpetrated by Arabs for nationalistic motives, officially, “all leads are being investigated,” Aharonovitz later said.

Whatever the motive, family members remain inconsolable.

“We’re focusing on mom and dad,” Alon said, adding that Dadon’s parents would be better able to cope with the tragedy after details of the case were revealed.

Dadon’s family held a memorial service on Sunday at her school, which was attended by hundreds of students, instructors, family and friends. All left grieving and bewildered over a murder with, as of yet, no conclusive motive.
