Czech president Miloš Zeman, via his spokesman, stood by a speech made at the Israeli Embassy in Prague, where he quoted the Koran calling for Muslims to kill Jews, refusing to retract what he said or apologize for quoting from the holy book.

Czech media reported spokesman Jiří Ovčáček’s statement saying that Zeman would not be apologizing for his statements in which he linked Islamic ideology with violence.

“President Zeman definitely does not intend to apologize,” the spokesman said. “For the president would consider it blasphemy to apologize for the quotation of a sacred Islamic text.”

Iyad Ameen Madani, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, issued a statement condemning Zeman’s speech, saying, “It is only appropriate that President Milōs Zeman apologizes to the millions of Muslims worldwide for his deeply offensive and hateful anti Islam statements.”

In the OIC’s statement, it said, “The Secretary General reiterated that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance and that terrorism should not be equated to any race or religion; a stance upheld by all major UN texts on the subject of countering terrorism. He added that the OIC countries share a profound respect for all religions and condemn any message of hatred and intolerance.”

The criticism of Islam in Zeman’s speech was widely reported, as he reflected on the Brussels Jewish Museum shooter, with the primary suspect now believed to be an ISIS soldier, the French Islamist Mehdi Nemmouche. But many newspapers left out the actual quotes from the Hadiths of Mohammed and the Hamas charter Zeman used in his speech, something he may have expected on the grounds of “political correctness,” which he mentioned, suggesting that the phrase is now a “euphemism for political cowardice.”

Zeman said:

There are states with whom we share the same values, such as the political horizon of free elections or a free market economy. However, no one threatens these states with wiping them off the map. No one fires at their border towns; no one wishes that their citizens would leave their country. There is a term, political correctness. This term I consider to be a euphemism for political cowardice. Therefore, let me not be cowardly.

There are dozens of days of independence being celebrated every year in the Czech Republic. Some I may attend, others I cannot. There is one I can never miss, however: it’s the Israeli Independence Day.

There was a hideous assassination in the flower of Europe in the heart of European Union in a Jewish museum in Brussels. I will not let myself being calmed down by the declaration that there are only tiny fringe groups behind it. On the contrary, I am convinced that this xenophobia, and let’s call it racism or antisemitism, emerges from the very essence of the ideology these groups subscribe to.

So let me quote one of their sacred texts to support this statement: ‘A tree says, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. A stone says, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.’

I would criticize those calling for the killing of Arabs, but I do not know of any movement calling for mass murdering of Arabs. However, I know of one anti-civilization movement calling for the mass murder of Jews.

After all, one of the paragraphs of the statutes of Hamas says: ‘Kill every Jew you see.’ Do we really want to pretend that this is an extreme viewpoint? Do we really want to be politically correct and say that everyone is nice and only a small group of extremists and fundamentalists is committing such crimes?

Blogger Gates of Vienna, who flagged the spokesman’s statement on Thursday, said “As far as I am aware, MiloÅ¡ Zeman is the first Western head of state ever to tell the OIC to go jump in a lake. So this is an historic occasion.”

    it’s from the hadith.
    altered it beyond recognition?
here are the qoutes, I guess the czech president merge the quotes.
    Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah’s Apostle said, “The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. “O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.”

    Ibn ‘Umar reported Allah’s Messenger (Peace be upon him) as saying: You will fight against the Jews and you will kill them until even a stone would say: Come here, Muslim, there is a Jew (hiding himself behind me) ;
    kill him.
Maybe this is the quote that he’s referencing, but got trimmed down for the explicit text.

    Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (Peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me;
    come and kill him;
but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.

Algemeiner states in its title: ” (…) for Quote from Koran”, whereas there’s no such phrase in Koran.

Nor even the Czech president said it was from Koran.

At best, the quote comes from Hadith, and even then, Zeman altered it beyond recognition.

So much for the great Jewish paper, so much for all the “likers” of this link. Maybe someone here will bother to give a call to E. Wiesel who chairs Algemeiner’s advisory board?

Not that Islamic texts are “clean” from references that we find appaling looking from the 21th c. But that is the case with the founding – and especially, hermeneutical – texts of all Abrahamic religions. When hinted to about this basic and online-verifiable fact, people typically tend to interpret “his/her” religious textual “trash” allegorically, and “theirs”, literally.

The story of the Bible is that God reached down to man after the flood and The Tower of Babel and chose a people who were the smallest in number and made a covenant with them that promises a redeemer for Man through this particular people.(Gen. 12:1) In order for God to fulfill his promises he mandated strict behavior and total isolation from the gentile world. His vehicle was through the Law and instructions through the prophets to NOT become entangled with non-jews was paramount to preserving them and then bringing the back to the Promise Land. The earlier quotations of Jews being required to kill certain groups because of their iniquity is something that God did Sovereignly for the purpose of purification of the Jews. Did it work? Absolutely yes! How else can you explain this history of the Jews. God promised a remnant so not all Israel will be saved. So after God brought the Lamb of God and was crucified for all the sins of the world including ALL other faiths, He changed the operandi of how ALL Jews and Gentiles respond to Himself with Faith plus Nothing for your initial moment of Salvation. His spokesman with this new operandi was none other than the Apostle Paul. GRACE does not attack and kill the unconverted with violence. We now are instructed to pray for our enemies and help our neighbor in any way. I hope this explains the references to killing in the Old Testament for the few that use that verse out of context.

  • The G-d of Israel Bless President Zeman for the courage to stand and call out what is truth and not hide behind the political right that only cost more lives. Shalom my friend

    • President Zeman is the voice of the same Nation which always was exemplary with great humanity, even at the time when Europe was the base of brutal genocide, and the Czech neighborhood was infested with human-rats. With this blessed attitude, no wonder that the Czech Nation is flourishing, while the rest of the surrounding countries are suffering from deep depressions.

  • The Quran might well call for retribution. My own Bible calls for an Eye for an Eye. This does not mean that We MUST engage in Violence to be Godly!

    • MARSH

This is why Judaism has the Talmud. Oral laws passed on by tradition of Moses to Joshua then to the Elders. The Talmud explains that an eye for an eye is in monetary form. If one accidentaly destroys any limb of an individual, he must compensate him for the loss, by paying the value of the lost limb. The Talmud explains how this is calculated.

The Bible also says: “You shall not witness innocent blood and remain idle”

  • Tabitha Korol

We almost had a third shining light from Australia, who said she would call East Jerusalem what it is, East Jerusalem, instead of territories or any other nonsense. However, she backed down and became a dhimmie to Islam. Sadly.

    • Job

Breaking. There is no such place as EAST Jerusalem.

  • Jay

President Zeman, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott are the shining light in this messed-up world.

  • Lauren Goldman

The words quoted by president MiloÅ¡ Zeman are a fact, and the symbol of the intent of islam is the sword. It is on flags of islamic countries and videos produced by islamic terrorists, and represents Islam’s ultimate method of ‘converting’ the world to islam. These images are not of kitchen cutlery products. Who uses suicide bombers throughout the world? Who kidnapped the 300 girls? Who is coming up from Indonesia and fighting up the southern peninsula of Thailand? Islamist jihadis. At some point, countries need to wake up to the fact that there is already a worldwide jihad taking place. In England, they just figured out that moslems are trying to take over school systems. Surprise!!

    • m ali

really so you are saying that Islam is a religion of violence. think of the hundreds of years jews lived in peace under Muslim rule, a time when christianity despised and killed jews for the murder of Jesus Christ.

      • Gary Isaacs

Mr Ali . Iam sorry to say , That Islam Is a Religion of Violence. Which can change if Tolerance of other Religions and Respect for all is accepted .
Yes Jews lived with Arabs for many Years in the Past , a long long time ago .
But not now . Israel was invaded by Arabs back in Day . they lived under certain conditions , it was not rosy in the Garden for them . All the Brutal Regimes around the World are Muslim based . with treats to take over the world. Not 1 other religion calls for this . You kill Millions of your own people.
1, simple fact 11 million muslims have been killed since 1948 in the middle east and Israel are responsible for 0.03 % .

  • Jon R.

Yes, violent scriptures like the Quran and the Tanakh do sometimes induce violent behavior.

    • Art

Cute. Figures don’t lie but liars can figure. Where do millions of violent extremists come from?

    • Except that no violent parts of the Tanakh have found their way into the platform of any Israeli political party whereas Article 7 of he Hamas Charter is taken from Hadith Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 177:
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. “O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him
Article 7 of the Hamas Charter reads:
The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.

    • Art

After what Christians have done to Jews over the millennia, where do you get the unmitigated gall to preach to us

      • Andy Rogers

Here is an informative article written by David Wasserstein in the Jewish Chronicle titled:
So, What did the Muslims do for the Jews? It discusses the relationship between Jews and Muslims and how Jews lived their Golden Age under the Islamic rule.

      • actboston

Art: More people have been slaughtered under islam than all other wars put together. 270 million have been killed because of Islamic conquest. More people have been enslaved under islam than all other enslavements combined throughout history. islam is the only religion that still believes and practices slavery today. Wake up fool.

      • Rich

The Crusaders and the Moors have nothing to do with what is going on today. In fact, I would say we are much more enlightened today and just want peace, but sadly that isn’t prophesied in the Holy Bible for this time. That will come later after this war develops across the world and Jesus returns from His place in Heaven. The Nazis and supporting Arabs did what they did to the Jews during WW2 murdering over 6 million in their death camps. Will they stop trying to do it again?

In Psalm 83 the Holy Bible predicts those countries around Israel will attack and try to wipe Israel off the map in Psalm 83, however they will not succeed at this time. Go on look it up.

God will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse them – it is written in Genesis. If you are cursing Israel, then no other than the Lord God Almighty will repay you with curses. It’s a really frightening prospect to be fighting against God himself.

However, if you turn to the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son and seek forgiveness for your sins, asking him to help you in your life He will do just that. See John 3:16-18 because His love for you is amazing grace!

  • He should get the Noble prize. But knowing the Dhimmis on the committed they would be too fearful.

  • We need more leaders to speak against the atrocities committed in the name of Islam.

Jews should start traveling to The Czech Republic, Canada, and Australia for vacations instead of Britain, France, Belgium, and the list goes on. In addition, Jews should stop sending their children to schools like NYU, Vassar, Swarthmore, etc who support BDS.

In a recent poll to measure anti-Semitism the UK were measured at 8%, so you have no need to include Britain in your list of no-go areas.
      The US was 9%
The World average was about 25%.

It is well known that Mohamed the founder of Islam married a girl 6 years old. To his merit he didn’t “know” her until she was 9. Would you believe in the writings of a pedophile prophet?

If quote from Koran is offensive to Muslims, then OIC needs to repudiate quote

    • Edward

What the OIC needs to do is put its money where its mouth is: If violence against others is un-Islamic, then the OIC should support, instead of condemning, those forces seeking to end the activities of groups who claim Islam as the motivation for their violence. That they don’t do this is one reason the connection between violence and Islam remains so firm.

  • george beacock

Excellent president Zeman, more leader’s should make a stand against anyone who quotes that another race of people should be killed. One gold star for Czech PresidentCome on the rest of you do not appease again as in 1917.

    • Uzoozy

He does not get any gold star he gets a dunce hat.
Look at the quotes from the bible, which may help you understand.
You must kill those who worship another god. Exodus 22:20

Kill any friends or family that worship a god that is different than your own. Deuteronomy 13:6-10

Kill all the inhabitants of any city where you find people that worship differently than you. Deuteronomy 13:12-16

Kill everyone who has religious views that are different than your own. Deuteronomy 17:2-7

Kill anyone who refuses to listen to a priest. Deuteronomy 17:12-13

Kill any false prophets. Deuteronomy 18:20

Any city that doesn’t receive the followers of Jesus will be destroyed in a manner even more savage than that of Sodom and Gomorrah. Mark 6:11

      • Jon R.

Agree except with your last citation. Mark 6:11 (KJV) reads:

“And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgement, than for that city.

Unlike the other passages you cite which command violence, the passage from Mark simply instructs Christians to leave the cities in question and they will be dealt with by God “on the day of judgment.” This is quite a different thing.

  • Sidney Sands

It takes little Czech republic to say the truth or rather its President Zeman, how different to Mr Obama who seems to be sleep walking to the end of his term, and only keeps repeating that “Islam is a peaceful religion”, if America loses it who will be left, Israel to be once again a light to the nations.

    • Tomm

President Obama is not sleepwalking, he is laughing.

  • judithg

Czech republic and Australia and Canada. profiles in courage.

  • Eve

I am proud to say that I was born in Prague. President Zeman, Tomas Masaryk would be proud of you. As am I.

  • It has been estimated that NINE BILLION people live on this planet. More than one billion are Moslem. That leaves eight billion who are not, therefore infidel.

Religions teach that human beings are God’s children. What thinking person can accept without question that the Creator wants eight billion of his creatures murdered for not being Moslem? How do they explain God’s creation of these infidels, men, women and children? For the sole purpose of converting to Islam or being murdered by Moslems?

How else to interpret the Qu’ran’s Sura 8-12:
“Remember the Lord inspired the angels with the message:
‘I am with you: Give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: SMITE YE ABOVE THEIR NECKS AND SMITE ALL THEIR FINGERTIPS OFF THEM.”

And less one points out the contradiction of smiting fingertips after smiting necks (beheading?), verse 17 states: “It is not ye who SLEW them; it was God.”

Someone please say that it is not so!!!

    • Uzoozy

An infidel is any one who is NOT a Christian Jew or Muslim or Sabian.
Killing people in a defensive war is allowed.
The religion that killed most people are not Muslims, Crusade for 800 years killing anyone and everyone, mainly Muslims

      • actboston

Wrong, the Crusades started out as a repelling force against the invading muslims. Read your history. muslims slaughtered their way to the Gates of Vienna before they were repelled by the Crusades. Christians took back Jerusalem for a while and the muzzies came back and fought again to take Jerusalem, until the Jews freed it from the hands of the muslims in 1948.

    • Tomm

While all may be God’s children, some religion claims allegiance to a being that is greater, ‘ukbar’, than God! and seek to prove it through beheading those who hold the Creator of the universe in awe.

  • Pam

God bless President Zeman! I am proud to be of Czech descent!

  • Podd

What??? Not apologise for telling the truth??
What is the world coming to?

  • David Lebbeus

Too many people think that every religion in the world is just like Christianity with its proof for a peaceful life style. But why do they think this? They have no rational grounds, they simply want to think this because it favors their hopes inside.

Mister Zeman quoted from the ahadeeth (narrations) from the life of Muhammad. The narration he quoted from is considered authentic by all Sunni Muslims since it comes from an accepted source. Several sources actually.

So his statement was correct and his thoughts on Islam as an ideology are on point. He is indeed not a coward but a strong man. I salute him for that. It is time people started to honestly investigate Islam and see that it has no right to be named in one breath with Christianity.

    Greetings from Holland.

    • Uzoozy

These are accepted only in war which please note the omission of the key words

      • Baruch (Blessing)

Islam was created out of “rejection”…Ishmael was NOT the “chosen one” & so the history of Islam is based on revenge & jealousy!

Time to mature, as a “religion of peace” & contribute something (anything) positive to humanity!

        ISRAEL LIVES!!!

  • Per Ardua

The President’s quote is from a famous and often quoted hadith and not from the Koran. Arafat often repeated the same statement.

  • Right on, President Zeman. A man with courage, he tells it like it is.

  • Remember in 1948 the antisemitic US STATE Dept( then and Now) engineered a US arms embargo of Israel. Israel got its weapons from the Czechs….a truly courageous man: we should remember Churchill’ s words: ” Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others”…yes a truly courageous man is a disgustingly politically correct world.

    • Tomm

The messershmidts that became the Israeli air force, thank you again Czechs.

  • hammar

And please remember that only in islam you will be put to death if you decide to subscribe to life ( in Christ, the Messiah) and leave the so called religion of peace.
But we all know the truth (Christ) that you will be murdered for leaving islam.

  • Article 7 is taken from Hadith Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 177:

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. “O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him

Two key features distinguish Islam from other major religions:

    1. JIHAD: Every Muslim’s duty of perpetual Holy War against non-Muslim nations (“Infidels”). Declared 14 centuries ago, remains in force today. Historically an ideology serving Arab Imperialism, Jihad results in Genocidalism and Colonialism against non-Islamic peoples; justifies and encourages endless, unlimited killing and martyrdom in its cause.

    2. SHARIAH: All laws must be governed by Allah-given Islamic law (“Shariah”) based on 7th century Bedouin-Arab mores. Mandates theocratic totalitarian government; leads to oppressive Apartheid regime against women, non-Muslims, other non-conformists; makes basic tenets of Western Civilization such as Human Rights, Democracy, Freedom, Secularism, Positivist Education impossible in Islamic societies.

Christian or Jewish societies may have conducted Holy Wars or been governed by religious laws in history, but have now reformed to eliminate them in favor of humanistic Western principles.

Until a Secularist leadership emerges that can reform Islam by purging it from above anachronistic tenets — reforms by the likes of Ataturk, Bourgiba, Nasser offered a good start, but are recently being reversed — Islam will remain a totalitarian and anti-humanist “political ideology” rather than a “religion” in the contemporary sense.

A fresh breeze blows through the media landscape.
The sound of a brook, running gently through the internet meadows comforts me.
A politician has spoken frankly, justly and righteously and brought to shame his peers, most of the news reporting establishment and a worldwide landscape of on-nodding troglodytes.

    Finally some truth!
    God bless President Zeman

    • Stephen Green

Amen finally the world has had enough of pandering to the Islamic ideology of murdering any who will not submit to this satanic inspired religion. Shalom Israel

    • Amen to that. I had Czech citizen ship when married to Czech ,he died in camp, he would be proud President Zeman.. First politician with b—–. I love him.

  • David

Hurray for an honest politician! Mr. Zeman simply quoted from the Koran and did not add or edit the language: it is what it is.

That the OIC would attack him and try to make it appear that he “used” insulting and vile anti-Muslim language only proves the point. If you quote from the Koran (or the Hadith or any other Muslim source) using its own text then you will be attacked by the defenders of the faith as though YOU had created that language. It’s a special Islamic Catch-22!

Mr. Obama would never, never, never have the cojones to offer anything close to that honesty by Zeman. Europe is the better for having Zeman there today.

    • Uzoozy

Please quote the verses exactly as in the Holy Quran, many words have been omitted to make his point.
      No wonder Muslims get upset.

      • Baruch (Blessing)

        “No wonder muslims get upset”……..LOL
        Your kidding, right?
        Piss off you blind f – – k!

Your religion has been living under a rock for 1,600 years!

What have Muslim’s contributed, since Algebra?

        Joke of the day:

Palestinian Woman says to her husband…”Does this bomb / vest make me look fat?”

  • Ron

One can simply imagine our own president having the courage to use the same or similar words as President Zeman. Instead, prior to his first election, the hoax in the White House described the Islamic call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”

Anyone ever hear the call to prayer by the muzzien? It sounds like screeching cats whose tails have been stepped on by an overweight camel.

Collectively, America has lost its mind and its soul. We do not have a single leader at any level of government who will step up and demand an end to propping up Islamic murderers and plugging up the steady stream of Muslim thugs into our nation. Nor do we have the political will to physically assault the barbarians until they no longer exist. And as most of us know, that’s exactly what needs to be done.

The new caliphate has begun and President Zeman stands alone among in his belief that Islam is poisonous. And the ONLY country willing to defend itself from the hideous human corruption called Islam is Israel. Finally, someone spoke the truth.

    • David

      Amen brother, amen!!

  • I salute Minister Milos Zeman for his courage to state the truth, and I wish many politicians would follow his lead.

In Hebrew, “zeman” means “time”. The statement of Mr. Zeman is a truth whose “zeman” has come.

  • Gregg Solomon

And still many will want to believe that it is Zeman that does not understand.

The line is actually not from the Koran, which was written by Mohammed but from the Hadith, the Hadith, the deeds and sayings of Mohammed written by his followers.

Islam literally means “submit.” Muslims are not to interpret, question, or take the Koran or the other Holy Texts metaphorically. They are to submit to the texts and Sharia Law. Those who do not properly follow Sharia are infidels. Non-Muslims are infidels. Jihad against infidels is required by all able-bodied Muslims. Islamic infidels are given the opportunity to mend their ways before facing Jihad. Non-Muslims immediately face Jihad. The spreading of Sharia is necessary for the Day of Judgments to arrive. And it is said “that only by the sword will people be made obedient [to Sharia].

  • Anthony dayton

If the world’ s western leaders would have mr. Zeman’s courage and integrity, they would break the back of this retrograde Islamic movement and the entire world would benefit. Their lack of morality and cowardice is the reason why there’s no peace in the Middle East, and why their own nations and western civilization are now species at risk of extinction.

  • Julian Clovelley

Either the passages are in the scriptures concerned or they are not. That is really all there is to it.

The New Testament contains many passages that could be legitimately seen as anti-Jewish, and the composite account of the Jesus that is generally used, being a composite of all Biblical sources, retains that anti-Jewish flavour.

There are also passages relating to mass slaughter in what Christians call the “Old Testament” that many find deeply offensive, including the last verse of Psalm 137 and the supposed D-vine orders given in 1 Samuel 15

I don’t see what offense is committed by drawing attention to such passages. They are either there or they are not

However I am happy to admit that such passages in my birth religion repelled me as a child, and were part of the reason that in the end I found it not credible in its entirety. To me one cannot be both religious and rational, on the basis of scripture, unless one is also prepared to be critical.

And I truly wish the leaders of all faiths would teach that.

    • June Grant

      Me, too

People who quote from historical/religious manuscripts are right in condemning barbarous/primitive actions which were described as happening at those times and circumstances; but didn’t our rabbaniem later on mention that we have to learn from the past and adjust the failures from then in such a way that they won’t happen now or in the future? But those ideas have become part of our present Jewish faith which makes Judaism still very suitable for now and for the future, but what happened to the liberal ideas of “Al-Ghazali and Averoes and more,”? and is there any Muslim who dare question the context of the Koran for its present suitability (there are definitely some useful commendable points, like that “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth signifies that a punishment for a crime should be on par with the severity of the crime, not LESS, but decidedly also not MORE,” which in Western society is often not the case,” So where is the enlightened Muslim who dares to speak and will survive ?

    • This is God’s creation not ours, He therefore has the right, the absolute right to decide who lives , and who dies, and neither Jew nor Greek, Nor blasphemous Islam, Can change any of it, so I say again. God bless president Zeman

Courageous man. Even the Jewish politicians in America lack the balls to make a statement like that.

I am gonna buy as much Czech products as I can.

    • Julian Clovelley

Make that first Czech purchase a Pilsner Urquell – and we’ll raise our glasses with you to the courage that speaks against racism and antisemitism wherever it is found.

      L’chaim – Na zdravi – cheers!
