4:49 pm – Haaretz correspondent Barak Ravid cites an Israeli official saying that Israel’s Netanyahu supports the reported Egyptian ceasefire proposal and will ask his cabinet to accept it.

4:25 pm – IDF: “In response to the recent rocket attack from Lebanon, IDF artillery forces fired a salvo of shells and flares towards the launching site. UNIFIL was notified of the incident and its severity.”

4:17 pm – The Israeli Security Cabinet is set to meet Tuesday morning to discuss the Egyptian cease-fire proposal.

3:55 pm – IDF Spokesperson: A few minutes ago, a rocket fired from Lebanon struck near the northern Israeli city of Nahariya.

3:52 pm – Police Spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld reports that sirens have been heard in the north in the Naharia, Rosh Hanikra area. Police units are searching open areas. No reports yet received of any rocket site.

3:23 pm – According to media reports, Egypt has proposed a truce between Israel and Hamas that would begin Tuesday morning at 9 am.

2:13 pm – The United States warned against any Israeli ground invasion of Gaza, saying it would put even more civilians at risk than are currently in the crossfire of attacks on Hamas, Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot reported.

12:37 pm – According to the IDF the young victims are sisters from the Bedouin village of Lakiya, near Beersheva.

12:21 pm – Israeli media reports that an 11-year-old and a 15-year-old have been moderately/seriously wounded by a rocket from Gaza that exploded in southern Israel.

12:17 pm – Israeli radio reports that IDF artillery fired back into Syria in response to the two mortar shells that hit the northern Golan earlier on Monday. Officials said they believed the Syrian fire was intentional and not “spillover” from the civil war in the neighboring country.

11:42 am – Egyptian media reports that U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will head to Cairo tomorrow for talks regarding a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

11:39 am – Israel Army Radio reports that one mortar struck the entrance to a northern kibutz. There was no injuries or damage reported. A small brush fire was ignited at the impact point.

11:20 am – Earlier today an anti-tank missile was fired from Gaza at an IDF tank in Israel. The tank’s Trophy Active Protection System intercepted the missile, the IDF said.

The tiny radar-synced projectiles mounted on the tank or armored vehicle fire at the incoming projectile near instantaneously, either detonating it a distance away from the vehicle, or deflecting its flight away from the vehicle.

10:12 am – The Iron Dome intercepted 1 rocket over the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, the IDF said.

8:04 am – Earlier today, the IDF shot down an unmanned ultra light plane which had flown from the Gaza Strip into Israel.

A Patriot battery identified the incursion and downed the aircraft over the Ashdod beach in the first Patriot interception in over 20 years. The craft was reported to have been laden with explosives.

Overnight, 19 rockets were fired at Israel from Gaza, two of them caused damage to property.

7:52 am – The IDF released the following summary of its overnight missions:

Yesterday, July 13, more than 130 rockets were fired at Israel- approximately 100 hit Israel, and 22 were intercepted. Since midnight, about 20 rockets were launched at Israel, 12 of which hit Israel and 7 were intercepted. In retaliation, overnight, IAF aircraft targeted more than 40 terror sites in the Gaza Strip.

Over the past 24 hours, the IDF targeted over 12 terrorists involved in launching rockets at Israel.”‹

Since the beginning of Operation Protective Edge more than 980 rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip at Israel; approximately 760 – hit Israel. Additional 200 rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system. IDF forces struck some 1,470 terror targets across the Gaza Strip. About 210 strikes on tunnels were carried out, along with 770 concealed rocket launchers targeted, some 69 training bases and militant compounds, 63 weapons storage and manufacturing facilities and additional sites used for terrorist activities.

Among the terror targets struck overnight, was an ammunition and weaponry storage facility, concealed within a mosque, in the central Gaza Strip.

Over the course of the operation, the IDF, in accordance with COGAT, facilitated the transfer of about 260 trucks containing over 4,400 tons of food into the Gaza Strip, as well as about 900 tons of gas, about 3.2 million liters of Fuel (Diesel), and roughly 500 thousand liters of Petrol (Gasoline). In addition, the IDF enabled the entry of over 500 donated portions of blood to civilians in Gaza.

PREAMBLE: 7:23 am – Early on Tuesday morning Israel launched Operation Protective Edge aimed at stopping “the constant terror activity that Hamas is aiming at Israeli civilians.” The major Gaza initiative comes in response to a significant increase in rocket attacks over the past weeks.

Since the start of the initiative Israel has targeted over 1000 terror sites and has seen a similar amount of rockets fired from Gaza at Israeli cities including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Gedera. More than 6 million Israelis are under threat of rocket attacks and many and spending the nights in bomb shelters. Over 150 deaths have been reported in Gaza.
