IDF Releases Name of Missing Soldier

JNS.org – The Israel Defense Forces identified Sgt. Oron Shaul, 21, as the soldier still missing in Gaza after his infantry armored personnel carrier (APC) was attacked by Hamas on Sunday.
Hamas has claimed it kidnapped a soldier on Sunday, but the IDF is presuming that Shaul is dead. A Hamas spokesman had displayed a soldier’s photo ID and serial number of a soldier, but did not show any images of a living soldier.
Shaul’s family said in a statement that “as long as the identification process hasn’t finished, and there are no unequivocal findings, he is still alive in the family’s eyes,” reported The Jerusalem Post.
Six other soldiers from the Golani Brigade were killed in the same attack on Shaul’s APC, and their remains were recovered by the IDF. Those soldiers include Sgt. Max Steinberg, 24, from Beersheba; Stf.-Sgt. Shachar Tase, 20, from Pardesiya; Stf.-Sgt. Daniel Pomerantz, 20, from Kfar Azar; Sgt. Shon Mondshine, 19, from Tel Aviv; Sgt. Ben Itzhak Oanounou, 19, from Ashdod; and Stf.-Sgt. Oren Simcha Noah, 22, from Hoshaya.
