Seth Rogen on Thanksgiving: It’s Very Jewish, ‘All You Do is Eat and Complain’
by Shiryn Ghermezian
Comedic Jewish actor and Canadian Seth Rogen claimed recently that he didn’t start celebrating Thanksgiving until he moved to America and when he did, he realized the holiday is very Jewish.
“In Canada they do celebrate Thanksgiving, but for some reason my parents didn’t want to do it and so they told me that Jewish people do not celebrate Thanksgiving in Canada,” he said in a new animated video published Monday by humor site FunnyorDie.com. “I believed this… until I moved to the states. And then I finally got to do Thanksgiving… and there was nothing not-Jewish about it. All you do is eat and complain.”
The Interview star said he feels his parents robbed him of the joy of celebrating Thanksgiving as a child growing up in Canada. He added, “I look back at all the missed Thanksgivings. I haven’t confronted my parents but I will one day.”
