i24News – Israel’s National Insurance Institute (NII) report revealed on Tuesday that 1.6 million people – half of them children – were living in poverty in 2013, out of a total population of 8 million.
The report, which was based on Central Bureau of Statistics data, found that while the poverty level in Israel slightly decreased in 2013, it still had more poverty and wider socio-economic gaps compared to other Western countries in the OECD.
