Alain Finkielkraut

Essayist and Author

During more than a decade of turbulent political change in France, essayist and author Alain Finkielkraut has emerged as one of the most perceptive and reliable voices on the noxious fusion of antisemitism and Islamist extremism that exploded with deadly force during the Paris terror outrages of January 2015. Outspoken in both tone and substance, Finkielkraut told a French interviewer in the aftermath of the Charlie Hebdo attack that “political correctness is the language of people who tremble at the idea of what might happen if they stopped lying.” As he explained in an interview with German magazine Spiegel in 2013, “multiculturalism does not mean that cultures blend. Mistrust prevails, communitarianism is rampant – parallel societies are forming that continuously distance themselves from each other.”
