Sheldon Adelson
Chairman and CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corp, and owner of Israel Hayom
Sheldon Adelson is undeniably one of the most generous philanthropists in the Jewish world. The chairman and CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corp. and the owner of the widely read Israeli daily newspaper Israel Hayom, Adelson has made multimillion-dollar gifts to myriad Jewish and non-Jewish organizations. Along with his spouse Miriam Adelson, an Israeli research physician, he founded the Adelson Foundation, which has two branches: the Adelson Family Foundation, which works to strengthen the State of Israel and the Jewish people, and the Adelson Medical Research Foundation, which focuses on healthcare. The family foundation has made sizable donations to Birthright Israel and to Yad Vashem, among other Jewish institutions.
