Defender of Christian IDF Soldiers Threatened: ‘Death Will Come to You Very Soon’
by David Daoud
Eyal Paltak, a 49-year old lawyer from Israel’s Lower Galilee region who represents Christian IDF soldiers, has had threats against his life made in recent weeks, Israel’s Channel 2 reported.
On Monday morning, Eyal received a message showing a picture of himself in IDF uniform superimposed with a large red X, and the caption, “Death will come to you very soon.”
Paltak told Channel 2 that he is involved in protecting soldiers who are threatened and attacked on a daily basis “at the hands of the Muslim community in the city” because they are serving in the IDF. He added that, “since I was interviewed on the matter, I have been receiving threats to stop dealing with the matter. The high-point was this morning, when that picture was displayed. They also distributed an aerial photograph of my home.”
Paltak added that in addition to the photo, he was also receiving messages to his Facebook account. He then filed a complaint with the police, who in turn brought in the Shin Bet. Despite the risk, Paltak vowed that, “all of this will not cause me to waver from struggling for the Christian soldiers in the IDF.”
The Northern District Police Department said that they were investigating Paltak’s complaint and were working to locate the suspects involved.
