In Speech, De Blasio Promises to Keep NYC Police Department Strong

NY Daily News – Speaking at length for the first time about a City Council plan to decriminalize low-level offenses, Mayor de Blasio said he’s in no rush to abandon “broken windows” policing.

But Hizzoner is still willing to talk about Council proposals that would make offenses like public urination and fare-beating civil matters — instead of landing offenders in criminal court.
